Thread: Anyone here ever damage slice a Proton Rifle?

I'm wondering if it is on the same line of damage cap as the Advanced Laser Rifle, or if I should look into a combination of damage and speed slices.

That is a proton carbine for BH, Rifle is Master Commando, and mine is sliced to give me a 1155 max damage.

I've sliced three of em out to 8%. I don't think there is a slicing cap on them, since there seems to be a cap of sorts on the looted stats. The min damage figure seems to approach 520, but never actually hits it, and the damage range is fixed, so slice away. The limits on the final numbers are built right into the weapon. Kind of makes you wonder, since there are crafting caps in place, why they bothered with slicing caps at all.

My main concern is how to slice and what to PuP. I am going Smuggler / Commando / Carbineer for the cone effect with my state effect commando weapons and the Charge Shot if I can afford it. I guess I'll wait until I am a Master Commando to see what my modified speed is on it before I slice it.

I'm Smuggler/Commando/Pistols and I max damage/one speed/one critsliced my Proton Rifle it ended up 558-1116 damage, I'm still looking for one of the supposed "uber" versions that are out there with a higher starting damage.My modified speed is on it is 1.62. Not that that seems to mean anything these days, but with that speed I can run my action out really fast, since it's got a sac of 86 even after a 27% action reducing PUP. The +10 speed andaccuracy bonuses on it are nice too. I personally wouldn't speed slice cause you won't actually ever be able to use it as fast as the speed increase would give it.

WOW I thought it did say carbine, well cover me in jello and make me a jedi, on second thought don't do that save leave the jello.

yes it is and i highly recommend a damage slice to any commando as the SAC of 119 makes it very unuseable with a speed pup
