This isn't a threadflaming the old saying, "We're smuggler's, why don't we smuggle?" This is a thread asking what happened to the profession.


2 years ago I decided it'd be cool to become a smuggler on one of my alts. I started the long slicing grind and finally gave up due to lack of interest and time with that toon. Now I've come back and done it again excited about the new "revamp" they did. I love the fact that they have now changed the slicing xp to something more practical and much less mind numbing to get. The spice tree looks ok now that the CU took care of upgrading spice for the profession. The slicing tree is a bit of a sore spot for me though......


I master smuggler and expect to hit the ground running since I have more than enough resources, equipment, and various other things saved up in my2 years of playing. But I find that now I need certain slicing tools to do my job. That's ok I half expected this, which is why I saved all my BH loot. Well, now I'm master smuggler and don't have several of the level 2 slicing tools since they never seem to drop.


What happened to the good old days when you had to craft your tools? Is this a better system for you guys now or not? I know the loot will be adjusted since I spent 3 hours trying to loot 2 different types of slicing tools only to find that I looted everything in the game but that.


I guess my post has no point other than to inquire what's going on here. I was so excited to start this prof since I've been wanting to do it since launch and now I find that it's still not what it should be. What is our place in the system? I have to pay anywhere from 100k to 500k for certain parts to make slices. Now who's going to pay that?


Please tell me they are addressing this and that they are not done with smuggler.......

Dunno about what's being addressed or not. But I definately feel sorry for any smuggler that didnt have a few crates of auks/wuks to convert into the new tools. They did dramatically increase the drop rates for icb's and dta's, so maybe there's hope of the lower tier tools dropping more also.


Add me to the list of members who don't like not being able to craft my own tools. And it's not so bad for me, since I'm also a MBH and still self sufficient - I just don't like having to play BH in order to complete a slicing job. Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Meh.

Yeah, we're actually getting screwed on parts. They seem to be dropping less frequent as of late and people complain when I raise my prices


The ICBs dont do you any good without the simple and fine toolkits

Well I was doing the math last night as to what I could charge to break even after buying my parts. Needless to say, most of my weapons slices would cost more than the gun did.

Most of my buisness was selling ICBs the night before BHs started looting them. I sold for 1-2mil, next day you couldn't sell them for 20k.

I cannot seem to find any place to loot the Finely crafted tools.


People are charging 25K a piece for them everywhere I see, and the simple toolkits run for 10K a piece.



I simply refuse to take Bounty Hunter to be able to rely on loot. Does anyone have a suggestiong for this particular tool?

I was reading the stickies on where to loot stuff but I had no luck on them. Spent 3 hours trying to loot one component. I was a bit disheartened.

The ONLY place i ever looted a finely crafted kit was the lvl 74 or so bounty hunter missions. So drop down and take the lower payout missions, maybe you'll get lucky. At least the lvl 74 mobs won't pwn you with uberspecials that have no action costs
