Thread: Spices, yes they can be interesting again. And some other thoughts on Smuggler.
Sorry if I seem harsh, but that's how I feel about this.

Spices...
I've read alot of posts regarding the spices. Most if not all of the smugglers are unhappy with the notion that Chefs have taken away all the spice customer base from us with their new food.
I can understand why! I have used 2 muon gold since the chef revamp. It says everything.
Now to the actual spice issue.
Make spices 3 times as strong the best food can be. Why ?
Come on ... the effect of Guarana is not the same as the effect of(a specific RL illegal drug)speaking in real life terms. I agree
For example a muon gold will give +2000 to all mind stats for an unlimited period of time.
BUT!!! Unlimited period of time... I don't think so, maybe 20-30 minutes, but not unlimited.
Add the Neutralizer Stim in Doctors tree crafting so we can neutralize the effects of spice. That could work...
Add the Spice Fatigue counter that grows while we are under the effect of Spice at a range 1-1000. Not sure about this... maybe if it added to Battle Fatigue, but not a whole new bar.
Give random gameplay penalties for ppl with Spice Fatigue.
Ex.
Cannot Harvest Creatures penalty.
Lower damage penalty.
Lower Accuracy penalty.
Reduce Terrain Negotiation.
...
Spice Fatigue should be treated by a Master Doctor (Great, another reason for me to hate Doctors!)using Anti-Spice Spices made by Smugglers. Anti-Spice Spice? WTH?
You would say that ok. I become Doctor and use spice 24/7. Certainly you can but the system should be a little more complicated.
Ex.
Only 70% of the Spice Fatigue can be treated by Doctors. The rest must be treated in Medical Centers by lying down on the beds there and paying a respectable fee. Players don't like downtime, this is the problem with spices now. Heck, I picked up Teras Kasi Meditation to avoid Medical Centers...
Make exprerimentation for spices count. Long as it's not slicing...
Ex.
We can experiment the ammount of Spice Fatigue generation vs The strength of the Spice.
Make Spice very very hard to create. NO! Not only with standard resources. NO! Things like rancor bile, Sarlacc bile, Janta blood and so on should be included. NO! You had me going til this...The ammount of spice that a Smuggler can create should be very smal to reflect the rareness, usefulness and illegality of the item.I'dhardly consider ANY drug/spice rareI take that backNever saw aperson that creates so much illegal substances to accomodate the needs of an entire planet in RL.
Spices should be made by hand only. Not in factories and by the crates. Bad Idea, kills our business... what little there is. This is just a waste of time. Smuggler Modified Crafting stations and tools should be used. Great, something else for us to waste time on... Those should be aquired or their schematics by running missions for a Faction like Jabba, Borva, Marauders ... whatever its out there. Even the spice schematics should be quest items. Are you even a smuggler? This is getting pretty bad...
Spices should be banned from Player Vendors. It is not like you run around in RL and find illegal substances in all shops. I've been suggesting this myself, Spices and Sliced equipment banned from Player Vendors and Bazaars. Add in a new Black Market NPC in some back alleys that we sell the items from.
Now to the actual smuggling. Make Starports impossible to smuggle through if youre not a smuggler. How? Maybe not impossible, but we should have a much better chance.
After arriving to a place you should be placed into an arriving room. When leaving the room you should pass through a scanner "ala Total Recall in the subway entrance" that can scan everything and never misses an item. Players will hate this...Turrets that one shot kill should guard the exit.
The only way to smuggle something while not being a smuggler is to purchase a "Smuggling Box" from a Smuggler that stealths all items in it for a certain number of times. Even the schematics for this box should be a quest item. More crafting, waste of time, money and resources.... We're smugglers, not crafters!

No he isn't joking. I am the biggest seller of Smugglers Delight on our server and this stuff sells pretty well once the players know about its benefits.
Its not that you get NO downer but rather that the downer period is reduced. I sell 99% experimented Smugglers Delight and my downer period lasts for less than a second, unlike the normal 3 minute period. You do get the downer effect however (ie. stats being reversed), but they return back to normal immediately since the downer period is almost non-existant. It does however have to heal back to full status.
Smugglers Delight is a Chef food. Very very few chefs stock this as it doesn't sell as wellas their other items. I've gone into business with a Master Chef on Starsider to produce SD, which I sell through my spice vendor. Just added 3 more crates today actually ![]()

Yes, with smuggler's Delight you still get the less than a second downer and the need to heal up your bars after the spice it's over, but since the downer time it's just less than a sec you can just eat another SD and another spice when the first is off. The SD i usually buy(and it's hard to find, you have to explicity ask it toa chef) it's 99% time reduction, over 99% it doesn't work, and comes in staks of 1 use, so you need a full crate to counter the effects of a full crate of spice. Another problem in getting it it's the fact that chefs needs a lot of milk to make it, so probably not all chef wil be willing to make it and some one will ask insane prices.
