((I've written roleplay type posts before, but this is the first one based on Misume I'm going to post in my galaxy's forum, but I figure the smuggler community might like it too))

-----------

This is good brandy. Sure, you can have a glass, I can't drink this all by my lonesome. I've seen you around here before. If one didn't know better, one might think you were being suspicious. But I know better.

Ah, the Empire. Aye, its got its problems, true. But without it, where would we be? Let me explain it this way. Here, let me pour.

The Emperor is the Empire, or so it is said. Since his triumphant rise and the creation of order and peace, that is how it has been. But now, disorder spreads, so that one might fear for their own life, just by entering a cantina. It could happen at any time, a rebel attack, and one could hardly be prepared all the time.

But that doesn't bother me, all that much. The danger, that is. I can't say I like the rebellion, but I can't very much say I am on the side of the Emperor. The Empire, yes, but not the Emperor. I stood before him once, and managed to not wet my pants. Just smile, and nod, and get the blazes out of there before he melted my brain. It didn't help I had enough illegal goods on me at the time, to send me to the worst prison imaginable. He could have figure it out, easy enough. Maybe the dress I wore that day distracted him...

Yeah, I deal in illicit goods, what of it? If it's illegal, I've traded it, sold it, moved it, or bought it. Money, after all, is the endgame. Just got over a nasty addiction to some spices. Bad stuff that, if overused. I never want to use it again, though the temptation is there. Just one more hit.... Speaking of which, I've got a crate of pixie, if you were interested..? No? That's fine, fine. I just need to get rid of it, the buyer backed out.

Yeah, right under the nose of the Empire, too. I'm probably talking too much, but who's going to tell? Not you, right? Good, smile and nod, smile and nod, and keep your hands on top of the table, and let me pour another glass for you. You don't even know my name, do you. I don't think I'll tell you, as of yet. Keep the mystery going, after all.

What? You want my life story? What do I look like, a vid documentary? Look, it's bad enough I've talked this much...why, yes, I just got this hai..you're trying to flatter me. It worked, now stop it.

Fine. Where was I? Right, the Empire. I believe in it, if not the methods used. Where do you think we'd be without it? Gods, think of the chaos? These..people, if you can call them that. Terrorists, more likely, by some of their tactics. These people, have they thought through what they would do, in the unlikely event they won? I see by the expression on your face, you're not sure. Here, have another glass.

There is so much at stake, and if you play it right, you'll come out on top. Frankly, I'd like to see the rebellion crushed, but I can't bring myself to actually kill any of them. We all have a right to our ideals, right? Well my ideal is made of shiny metal, and can feed the addiction I keep in my closet. Clothing, you know. So, highest bidder, right? But lets say I get an offer, to run something, to help the empire. And I get a counter offer, for the rebellion. What do I do? They both pay the same. One offers a bigger thrill, though..

I digress. I'm probably not cut out for either side. Once I can afford my own ship, then the opportunities will be there, you can bet on it. Why, yes, that is greed in my eyes. Thank you! Here, have some more brandy. Getting a little tipsy there, are we?

I know you wanted me for more than just conversati...eyes to the face. Thank you. You need something moved. I can feel it. Aye..you do. Why don't you come with me, and tell me all about what you need. I'll take care of you. Yes, you can bring the bottle, my treat....This smile? Why, I love to smile, it shows off my eyes...

I'm watching a bit of smoke rising from the hole in his chest. What went wrong.

Well I know what went wrong - I was stupid. Not the first time, and probably won't be the last. It's why I invest in a decent blaster.

The man'd been a rat, for the Empire. I figured that out when he'd slipped up. I turned my back, and in the reflection of a framed picture, had seen him pop a pill, the kind that keeps you sober. He was only acting drunk, and so I led him on a bit more.

What happened next, still rings in my head..

'No one is ever going to see you again, Misume, not even prison guards.'

I value my freedom - my very life- too much, and I shot him, before he had a chance to even raise his own blaster.

I had to. Didn't I?

If anyone can hear these thoughts, tell me I had no choice.

How can the job I love doing, include doing things that make me physically sick?

Great story! Unfortunately I read Karamak's 'Jedi! Jedi! Jedi! Cheeseburger cheeseburger!' post first so your character sounded (in my head) like Christopher Walken in the SNL skit 'The Continental.'

lol, sorry, but true.
