How do you expose smugglers who pup slice? Can anyone (including the devs) determine whether a pup slice was accomplished on the weapon?
Just wondering because I see a lot of people are accused of this when, actually, the evidence could really go either way. This has added too much to distrust and should be corrected. If the devs can tell what has been pup sliced, then I can't imagine why they don't just run a sweeping check on all weapons in the game and disable those that are pup sliced. This is just too easy, it would seem. I hazard a guess that the issue is more complicated and the devs have no idea whether something is pup sliced or not.
I suppose if you loot an item with good stats, the common wisdom is that you should leave it unsliced, right? To make sure no one thinks you performed a pup slice. But to me this is stupid and somewhat unfair. I've looted weapons with decent stats and had them sliced, just so I can sell it in its best possible form. This is especially the case if I loot a weapon with just OK stats that would never sell normally. In this case, a good damage slice has actually allowed me to sell it for a little money.
So how can we/the devs detect if something is pup sliced with any degree of certainty?

Usually the only way I can tell is when the weapon in question is on a vendor with the base stats in the title of the weapon. Alot of popular WSs on Ahazi will put the stats of the crafted, pre-sliced wep in the title. From there, you can just do the math yourself. If the pup is still on it, scroll down and it'll tell you exactly by how much the min and max are being powered up. Then just do the math for a 35% dmg slice ... if the min dmg is higher than it should be, you've got an exploited wep.
At least, that's my understanding of figuring out whether it's exploited.

It's not just the minimum....if the slice % on both the min and max don't match then you probably have an exploited weapon.

So, can the devs determine which weapons have been pup sliced and, if so, I wonder why they haven't universally nerfed or deleted those weapons?

Read the dev's guide to handling the smuggler community, that'll make things far more clear for you.
