It's been discussed elsewhere here. Most smugglers aren't charging 100cr/%. But basically it's up to the smuggler to decide what to charge, whether it be 3,5,10,25k a slice.

Yeah one guy on my server asked me why I charge so low (between 100c and 150c per %) I gave him the answer a lot of us should be giving heh.
It's a side job, it isn't where all my income comes from, and when it is, I still make enough because of customer volume.
If you see someone slicing near you, just go to another area, I'm never "low" on business

I've not done 100cr/% increase for months now. Been doing 5000cr/item.

I'm up to 10k per item myself...though I am willing to cut deals based on the customer attitude and what kind of mood they catch me in.

I'm never "actively" slicing.
I don't loiter around the front of a starport...unless I'm waiting for buffs in C-net...or unless I'm checking out the mission terminal is nearby.
If I happen to be in the mood to take slicing business, I just show my tag and make myself searchable.
When I have no desire to slice, I'm untagged and /anon...
I've written 2 macros to help me with this:
Slicing:
/setCurrentSkillTitle combat_smuggler_master;
/anon;
Not Slicing:
/setCurrentSkillTitle;
/anon;
These 2 macros will switch me back and forth between tagged and untagged and searchable and non-searchable. If I'm tagged and searchable, and I don't get any /tells, that's not a big deal...I just go about my business as usual. If I get /tells, that's great...I state my price of 10k right up front, if they want to haggle, I'll work with them and see if we can come to an agreement. If they want to be a pain about it, I'll just thank them for contacting me and tell them to find somebody else if they don't like my pricing.
I don't *HAVE* to slice. I simply do it when I feel like it...

On the one hand, I agree that slicing isn't expensive to do. Matter of fact, I've been slicing quite awhile now and I've only ever purchased one item myself --about 5 crates ofAUKs -- thanks to my guildmates who keep me stocked in everything I need, so long as I slice items for themfor free.
So, for some time now, I've just been doing missions, theme parks, PvP battles, etc. I have more money than I can spend in a year (or until JTL finally gets released and I find out that the ship I want will cost me $40M credits).
Anyway, I'm digressing. Charge what you want. When I do bother to have my MS tag on, and I'm busy doing something, the price could be anywhere from $10K - $20K per slice (I'm usually busy, as a rule).
If I'm not busy or for return customers, usuallyaround $5K. Sometimes it's free, if it was a low slice or I'm in a particularly good mood. I don't think there are that many Smugglers left out there, at least not on Gorath. So, Itypicallydon't get much of any argument from a customer, regardless of what I charge. If they did, I'd probably remind them that they came to me, not vice versa. I'm a smuggler, not a haggler.

Good posts everyone. I usually charge between 10-15k a slice. For my regulars I drop the price to 5K a slice.
My attidue toward price: charge whatever you want, the customers will make the final decision if it is acceptable or not.

I did some public slicing last night for the first time in awhile.
At first I spammed, but I really dispise spammers, so I stopped that. I sat in a chair between the ticket vendor and where the shuttle lands in Coronet ... you know, where everyone runs by you. I sat there with my Master Smuggler tag up and made myself searchable.
I told everyone who asked me for slices that I was charging 10k per slice. I didn't get 1 single argument, and 2 people actually told me that they were glad to see a smuggler charging more than 3-5K, or 100cr/%. So, that's my going rate now, when I do public slicing.
But, between myself and my alt, I have 4 very good means of making money, so who knows when that'll be.
(Nathan is Master Smuggler and TKM, so I can slice and run solo missions with him. Oberon is Master Doc, Master Musician, so I can sell two forms of buffs with him)

I guess I'm in the minority here.
I too 'hide' when I don't want to public slice, though I have a lot of folks who still 'tell' me when I'm on to see if I will slice for them.
But my public slicing prices are FREE for slices less than 20%, $2k for 20-29% and $5k for 30+% slices. I've thought of adding a $10k fee for slices above 40%, but since that is only for Armor encumberance slices, and most folks are only looking for effectiveness, I felt it would be adding salt to a wound, so I have decided not to.
I also issue a warning, and make everyone I slice for acknowledge that I do not control what nor how much a slice is. They must send me a tell (or say) that they understand it is completly random and I am not held accountable for an 11% enc slice on their uber PvP composit helmet. (yes I actually got that once).
I feel this is 'fair' (although I understand that we are smugglers and don't always play fair), as I only charge based on how 'lucky' i was during the slice.
Very often, I am tipped extra even when the slices weren't all that great.
It would truley be groovy if the Force Sensitive skill tree 'luck' would actually help us get 'luckier' when we sliced. Of course that would imply that the Devs actually planned on any of the FS skills to manifest themselves in any noticable sort of fashion.
I play on the Scylla server.

I don't have a set price, i let people tip what they think is fair after i report my results. I've been keeping track my avg. for the last 5 days is 11k. Most people will pay you what your work is worth, those who don't no more slices from me

I tried the 100 cr per % back when I was slicing for the public, then I joined a guild and sliced them for free, cause they gave me a lot more in return, now I'm unguilded and while I used to be in favor of a fair price I realized three things:
1. We are smugglers, and while there should be honor amongst smugglers, we aren't here to be nice to the others....we are criminals.
2. Doc buffs went through the roof. Don't know what you all pay in your server, but on Corbantis, buffs were about 10K for a nice set of 2300+ 3.5 hour buffs, not you'll pay upwards of 50K. The other day I saw someone spamming 1500 1 hour buffs for 10K.
3. The price of weapons and armor can reach into the millions, so a measely 10k is nothing.
I can't imagine I will ever go back to slicing as a source of income because I can make 80k in about five minutes slicing janta/mokk missions, but if I do slice I'm going to charge as much as I can get away with, and I'm not really into this game for the money, though it would be nice to afford some good armor and the prices of scythes is through the roof.
