Messed up...maybe...
Time consuming...definitely...
But definitely profitable...assuming you're at Lt. Colonel or Colonel...

Going rate for FP on most servers appears to be 120-150 creds per point. (Your "cost" would be 96 creds per point if you're Imp, 85 creds per point if you're Reb...assuming Colonel rank.)
That link contains a macro that greatly simplifies the transfer process. And, I think it also include a link to a tool you can use to easily figure your profit margin.
If it doesn't include the link I mentioned, I'm sure someone else will chime in here with the link. I've forgotten who developed it and where I got it from, but it's the FactionCalc tool. Very handy.

Having to be high ranked member of a faction just to be able to sell faction points is one thing that spoils this whole ability in my opinion.
It already costs 10K for 125 FP, I would like to of seen a 'tradefactionpoints' skill at master smuggler, that gave a good transfer rate. But doubt would ever see anything like that. Used to find if you had good combat skill, may as well run missions and build up the FP and then transfer it in one go, made money on missions and could even sell the faction points for lower price if people were not in an immidiate rush for the points.
That way a master smuggler could easily swap sides and sell faction points to whoever as needed (ie smuggler could remain neutral and work for both sides or who ever paid more). They would not have to run missions to get to a good rankjust to have a realistic conversion rate on transfering faction points.
