Can someone tell me what they think the fastest way is? Just noticed that the majority of smuggler is pistol xp, but as you go through it you get no extra skills to make it easier.... seems odd to me...

Any suggestions would be great..

Thanks

If you want to level a pre-CU smuggler, I'd recommend that you pick up Novice pistoleer. Go to dantooine and do quenker missions solo while grouped with a pet or droid that you keep at one of the outposts while you run missions. Get a nice gun that does acid or heat, some buffs, 80%+ composite, and use HealthShot2 to kill the quenkers. You can level up fairly quickly like this.

bar none, the fastest way to get m. smuggler is to get m. pistoleerfirst(mainly for the pistol speed). if you don't, it'll be a much longer grind

Yeah... it's not that bad... I got the resources, set my tools to practice mode, and ground from 0 spices xp to Spices 4 in like 3 hours... didn't even bother with a macro.

Yeah... Spices was by far the easiest. Didn't use a macro, just crafted in practice mode hanging out in a Cantina. Took me like a day and a half. But I was taking my time.

EDIT: LOOK AT THE PURPLE NAME. W00T. LOL

Why not actually play the game rather than be obsessed with trying to do things as fast as possible? Nothing ruins the game faster than "Grinding" and nothing enhances it more than "Playing". So what if it takes you a month or two to master a profession.

Searching for the Fastest way to grind a profession makes you sound like a grenade-Jedi, and I know you don't want to appear to be one of those.

I'm grinding Smuggler to Master as quick as I can on my new character so I can be there and ready when the CU hits (besides, I already did the thing slow once, so I'm entitled to speed right through it the second time). I got Novice Pistoleer and 2 DX2's (one with a decent speed slice I done myself) to get all the Pistol XP, plenty of resources for Shadowpaw to finish up Spices 2-4, and 300 survival knives, clamps, WUKs, and PLKs to get me through slicing 3 and 4.

I just recently did the grind to Master Smuggler. IMO, the quenker missions are good to have as destinations, just something to head towards. What really brings home the XP is the wild lairs of Huurtons that you may find on the way to your mission WP. A mission lair for Quenkers will only yield 6 Quenkers. You'll get 20 or more Huurtons out of a wild lair (something that's called "Brambles" rather than "A Huurton Huntress Lair", for example). If you can find 2 within easy reach of each other, even better.

Just run around, spamming Point Blank Area 1, and hoover up as many huurtons/quenkers as you can. Then stand there, spamming your area attack, and occasionally picking out individuals as they get to 'nearly dead' and run off. You can easily get 70k XP or more from one wild lair - just be careful not to blow it up too quickly. Once you've got a nice amount of critters surrounding you, move out of range of the lair so you don't blow it up by accident.

Be sure to pack lots and lots of ranged PUPs (and have several out of the crate before entering combat), and if you have the combat XP to spare, pick up as much of the 4th line of Pistoleer as you can - every last bit of speed will help. Also, check the bazaar for those new stims that provide skill bonuses. A 5-minute boost to your pistol speed and accuracy will make a surprising difference, but save it for the times when you have lots of targets.
