As much as I love this idea, and think it would fit our profession so well, I doubt it would go over well with much of the community.

Great idea though.

Master Smugglers should be given the pilot certifications to any ships in space that are not TIE fighters of one type or another or A-Wings as long as they have the appropriate skill level in Smuggler's Alliance that translates to the other factions. At novice a Master Smuggler should be able to fly a Z 95, for instance. Considering all the pirate groups in space that possess Alliance starships, how easy it would be to program, how much they haven't given smuggler that's a benefit to US and not for us to do for someone else (faction, slicing and spice crafting), and the fact that smuggler is an inherently space-oriented profession, this would be a great step in reconciling with the Smuggler profession. It's a marker of what being a smuggler really is - a pirate.

On a side note:

Smuggler's Alliance should be the true neutral space group. Garm Bel Iblis is well established as a member of the Alliance, and Corellia's neutrality is more technicality than practice, truly. Jabba and any crime figure is truly neutral as money rules over passion for success in the underworld, and the Empire is always going to have more money. Anyone that thinks Jabba or any other crime group has real ties to the Rebellion is wrong.

Edit: I forgot to include A-Wings in the original post. Master Smugglers should have access to anything that is widely available which Z-95 and Y-Wings are because of their age and X-Wings because of their nature. A-Wings are a top-secret prototype basically that is kind of questionable to be in the game at this point anyway (but when do they care about timeline) since they were developed as a response to the Battle of Yavin and (I believe) not really there to use until the Green Squadron of the Battle of Endor.

I'm a nerd, I know. I'm at peace with that.
