Thread: Wow, glad I'm not a bothan!

I was looking through the Game Guides forum, and found something that seemed really weird, dealing with the Imperial Crackdown. Seems that the devs don't like the bothans much either!
Now what I'm wondering, is whether bothan smugglers get caught more often with scans then other races. If bothans don't get as much of a bonus in underworld as regular smugglers, well that just seems plain unfair.

Yes I checked that out as well. But someone on that thread wrote somethin about bothans gettin a 10% discount on all rebel perks.. is this true?

Thats interesting.. I always thought rebels charged evenly for every race... lol well i guess bothans deserve it

They get an extra 10% ... but from what I have been told, they still need to have enough FP to buy at regular price ... but they only lose 90% of the cost.

err I'm a Bothan rebel and I get the normal amount deducted when I buy something..same as my human

What the...I can't speak for the scans because I only play one character. I am a bothan master smuggler and rebel colonel and I have not seen a bonus for faction perks other than normal rank bonuses. If this is true I am getting screwed.

hmm dunno if thats true... think about this though, what happend was... one day, i went to kor vella, i had... my illigeal weapon, there was 2 stormies...in each other...anywya, one scans me(i have like... 0-1-0-2, not that good...) and so fearing the worst i run away, as i start to run im turned overt (this is also after the vette, so i ahve exactly...1hp each!), as im running i see the other strom trooper follow, puzzled why he wont leave me alone, i stop, (to die really), and then... he scans..me...so let me recap, in this 30 sec-1min 30 sec period... i had 2 successful scans on me... every time i go by kor vella, i get scanned, by the same one... its creepy

Hey Zeritul.
You get the extra 10% discount... the only hitch is that you need to pay the same as any other master smuggler rebel UP FRONT.
Once you've purchased the perk, the recruiter refunds you 10% of the cost in FP. Keep an eye on your Faction after you've purchased the item

My first faction perk business partner was a bothan, and he confirmed that when buying perks, he only lost 90% of the faction normally required. For example, when buying a 45k faction point detachment HQ, he only lost 40,500 points. He still had to have the initial 45k fp though.

I too can confirm the 10% Bothan rebel discount. It's always been there as far as I can remember, it was difficult to notice right away though, since like has been said, you do essentially spend the FP...but then get some back.
As far as scans go, I have not experienced any biased scans at all. I have never been "caught"and scanned maybe 10 times since the Crackdown. I do visit Imp cities frequently as my home is north of Kaadera. So, for this Bothan MS anyway, I have not experienced the discrepency mentioned.
