Thread: Breaking a weapon when slicing. Possible?

The subject pretty much sums up my question.

I had made an Acklay PowerHammer for a guildmate, who went to slice it.

The smuggler then claimed that he lagged, and the weapon was destroyed.

How true is this claim likely to be?

I was not aware that slicing could actually destroy a weapon outright......

from my point of view, never give such a weapon to a smuggler who you dont trust or meet the first time.

just to make it clear: it is not possible to destroy a weapon while slicing, altough u can failthe slice and never be able to slice that weapon again.

That sounds like what he may have done.....

Let's just say I'll be keeping an eye on the auction forum.

The lagging sounds like something that's happened before- basically the radial lags and it clicks the destroy button accidently. One reason you should never, ever turn off "confirm object deletes" in your options panel- probalby the smuggler turned it off back when he was grinding slicing (having to trash those 25 survival knives you just sliced from a crate is annoyingly long)

yep...sounds like during lag he hit the Destroy button, I've done that before and the only thing that saved me was the....

...are you sure you want to destroy said item.

whew...talk about a heart racing, when you just got a good slice on someones expensive armor.

No. There is practically no way to destroy a weapon with a slice.

1) No slicer or master smuggler in their right mind would slice someone's weapon without a clamp guarenteeing 100% success in cutting the correct wire first (and therefore correctly slicing the weapon to the best of their abillity).

2) If they don't the weapon is just fine. It's no worse. It just can't be sliced ever again. But all the stats should be exactly the same (the condition might have gone down a bit, but that's it).

3) Accidentally hitting the Destroy button can happen, however it is EXCEPTIONALLY rare. Most smugglers pay MORE attention during Laggy slices for that very reason, and while it can happen to all of us, it's not common at all. I've never accidentally destroyed a weapon (but a couple of loot items I sliced I accidentally botched the wire because of lag or my own fatigue, not my character's).

So I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

That's the only reason I keep the "Confirm Item Deletion" option checked off, so that I can't accidentally delete people's weapons/armor. It's saved my butt many times while slicing for people.

If you still remember smugglers' name -- report him. CSR will be able to check whenever he kept the weapon, or destroyed it.

You cannot destroy an item while slicing. And personally, I never lagged so bad that I would press a destroy option. And if you do, you will get CONFIRMATION whenever you really want to destroy it.

So, report him. Let CSRs settle this one.

just 2 things

1st, thing I say to my custommers: NEVER buy an unsliced weapon, specially high end/expensive one.

2nd thing, I say to myself as a smuggler, NEVER slice other weapons than easily replaceable ones.

if everybody did so, we wouldn't have a single problem.
