Im just now getting into faction sales, I have a few question:

1. is it better to farm then buy?

2. if i have5 or 7k in faction now do i even need to buy them?

3. if i dont need to buy them do i still have to be near a recruiter and/or overt to /del to a client?

4. what should i charge (is it 100 credits per 1 faction point?)

I looked over the faction threed and while it was a hugh help i still have the above questions. Thanks in advance guys!

For your personal faction, you have to farm.

You cannot buy faction if you have 500 or over.

If you don't have to buy them, there's no need to be near a recruiter. However, you still have to be overt to use /del.

I am also new to FP selling, but made a bunch last week off of it, and here are my thoughts, etc.
I am Lieutenant Colonel, so FP costs me 125 FP to delegate 100. (I would like to make Colonel, but I keep selling FP before I get there!)

But for now I am Lt. Colonel and since I can buy 125 at a time from the recruiter, the math is easy:
-- costs me $10,000 to give my client 100 FP.
-- costs me $100,000 to give my client 1000 FP.
Since most clients want multiples of 1000, the math stays simple.

When a client asks me to sell him faction, I always tell them what it costs me to buy it from the recruiter. I do NOT tell them how much FP I currently have stored up. That is part of my profit.
For example, I had a client that wanted 20K FP last week.
I told the client that each 1K of FP costs me 100K, so I sold it for 120K. He agreed to pay 2.2 million total.
Now since I already had 1400 FP stored up (that is 1120 FP I could delegate to him) that I didnt have to pay the recruiter for, I was able to make an additional 112K profit right there.

Also, if you are rebel, every time you buy 125 FP from the recruiter, you get the "Cries of Alderaan" bonus of 13 addtional FP. That adds up over time to increase your profit.

So bottom line, any FP you can farm is FP that you can sell at pure profit.

Farming:

Max faction you can hold as a Colonel = 60600

Max faction you could transfer = ~51000

Time to earn 60600 FP = ?? depends on your playing time. Maybe 1000 FP. per hour?

So, figure if you're a powergamer, you'll do 2 transfers a week. Figure a conservative price of 150 c/pt., and that's a pure profit of ~7.65 million creds per transfer.

Buying:

Rebel faction "cost" = 85.5 creds per point for Colonel (after ratio is figured in).

Imp "cost" = 94.4

Figure I can buy and transfer about 51000 FP in 45 minutes.

Charge the same 150 creds per point.

Rebel:

Faction "cost" = 4370000

Profit = ~3.29 Million

Imperial:

"cost" = ~4.82 Million

Profit = ~2.83 Million

Now...if you played 60 hours for just one faction deal...

Take that same 60 hours and work the math on doing 60 faction deals for the same amount of points.

For me, Buying > Farming.

See my above response.

2. if i have5 or 7k in faction now do i even need to buy them?

You'll have to shed those points down below 500 before you can buy.

3. if i dont need to buy them do i still have to be near a recruiter and/or overt to /del to a client?

No...you can /del anywhere as long as you have the points to do so. You only need the recruiter/NPC to buy the points. And you have to be overt to /del.

4. what should i charge (is it 100 credits per 1 faction point?)

Really depends on your ratio and how much profit you want to make. Prices for Colonels seem to be running from 120 - 180+. Also depends on how much businessyou want to do. High price = fewer customers. 150 seems to be the good middle ground.

It's one of those things that's easier to get your head around if you show the math.

Now, anybody that does 60 50k FP deals per week is an idiot, but the math shows that you can do 7 50k orders in about 7 hours. Your profit will be about the same and you'll have that other 53 hours free to go do other things besides grind faction...

Thanks for that info, Dreven.
I wanted to clarify my first post:
I wasn't suggesting that anyone get ALL your FP by farming. The point I was trying to make is that if you get the chance to farm some, do it and use it to increase your profits. I no longer go out looking for FP, but I often come across a group of 7-10 Storm Troopers standing around comparing armor sheen. Or when out hunting I often find an Imp base sitting there with nice little FP targets all around it. Whenever I see them, I hop off my bike and take them out. Then when I do get an order for FP later, those FP I farmed are pure profit since I dont have to buy them.
I hated having to farm FP to reach Lt. Colonel and could think of no worse job than trying to farm every bit of FP that I sold!
Good luck, Yimaz...

P.S. For example, over the last few days out hunting, I have accumulated 2000 FP off of random imp targets. That is 200K profit coming some day in the future.
