With Pub 9 came that dreaded delay... Which means we just lost our number one damage dealing technique!
I used to go TK, apply states, KD, then IMMEDIATELY switch to pistols (usually my trusty geo) and HS2 or LD the hell out of my opponent...
This is just about the only way to put in some decent damage against people with decent material... (as far as I can see)
With this delay, most opponents getback up before I even get 1 shot in!
I'm getting VERY worried about how viable my precious triple threat template will be, as above combo has enabled me many times to take out one of those cowardly CM's fast enough.
wearing an opponent down with TK has become VERY hard (since a long time), pistols have always been underpowered, and now we can't even decently combine these two to compensate?
You input/suggestions would be appreciated
I love playing with Triple Threat, but it hasn't been easy.....why did they just make it harder?
BTW: jedi are the only ones who aren't impacted at all by this change....
(and they already got a lot tougher with pub 9)

I'm a former triple threat as of Sunday, for this exact reason. I enjoyed pulling mobs in PvE, dealing damage at range, then TKing once it closed in. Now I've got Scout instead, with some terrain negotiation to help me kite, and to run from Bounty Hunters

I'm at quite a dillema...I'll see If I can come up with anything new to compensate, but if not I might just drop my TKM to pick up BH pistols
I love TKM though
but I can't stand to be useless in PVP...
My template was inferior to most, but my tactics ( or a lot of my opponents lack there of) compensated it A LOT... now a lot of my tactics are completely useless
(I relied very much on constantly switching between VK and pistols).

I'm in the same situation. I loved the Triple master template...I've had it for almost 8 months now. With this delay though, it really makes things hard. You can try and anticipate when you will need to switch and hit a weapon earlier....but that makes things very dicey and can get you killed if your not careful. Instead, what it really does is make you choose to be either ranged or melee. I absolutely hate it. As a result I decided to drop tkm + most of smuggler and do Master Pistoleer + Dirty fighting + BH pistols. Of course, when the time came to actually make the change, I couldnt bring myself to do it. Even if Im ineffective, this is the skillset that Ive played the game with, and I cant bring myself to drop it. I hope this issue gets resolved somehow, because as it stands now it just makes the game less fun to play.

Apparently this "fix" was put in to prevent Pikeman from dot-macro'ing at the speed of light...
Maybe they should only keep the delay if you switch between weapons of the same kind (wouldn't be logic; but what is in SWG?), this way you can still swtich fast between melee/ranged (= a necessity for Triple Master).
I already noticed first hand how big a difference this change makes....it is HUGE... by the time I go from VK to pistol, fire off three shots and go back to VK my mind will already be gone vs a CM, while I lost at least TEN seconds for my weapons...one more free tick for the enormously underpowered CM's (yes, they think they are UNDERpowered, and try to prove it with some bogus DPS calculations).
This is not a CM rant, but Jedi and CM (and M.doc/x templates) don't seem to be impacted at all.....we however are genuinly scarewd

if its to address dot stacking, it's a piss poor bandaid. The problem with dot stacking is the dots, not weapons switching. address the actual problem if you're gonna fix something. they just nerfed every well rounded strategic player in the game because of mini-cm wannabes with their dot pikes.

One of my characters is a Triple master. I use to beat on things close up with TKA until they tried to run then pull out my pistols and shoot them. With the delay its almost takes as much time to run after them as to shoot them.

It was also put in to prevent jedi from macroing /armor off, /force special, /armor on.
Btw...if you work out the timing it is not a big deal...just create a macro that goes something like /kd2, toolbar where pistol is, /unarmed dizzy, /unarmed stun,
by the time the unarmed specials clear the pistol will be in your hand...the timing can be tricky, but it is possible, i currently do it with a flamethrower and pistol

i think the thing for most tka/smuggler/pistleers is to use delay the opponent while switching weapons. that means warcry1 or panic shot. warcry has the advantage of not being tied to weapon so you can do it anytime.

I have found that if you peace you can instantly change weapons then fire away again.

I just finished TKM the other day and will start working on pistoleer again soon. Seeing as I don't PvP often, I'm going to keep working on triple master. I'm hoping this "combat balance" will make the triple master worth a damn, seeing as mastering 2 elite professions should actually mean something.

Im also a triple master, and this change has had a very negative effect. Perhaps we can get a hotfix that removes the delay for smugglers under the dirty fighting skill tree. It would be nice to have a reason to justify UA 4. Comeon devs smugglers have been excedingly paitent in regards to the broken state of our proffesion (and this one will continue to be until our fix AFTER JTL
how about throwing us a temporary bone, We have NO UA specials or bonuses, and only specials for pistols. This would be an EXCELENT way to compensate us paitent smugglers.

Macro'ing a weapon change after UA moves will fail more often then not, you never can tell how many times you need to UKD2 to knock someone down...
I'll give /peace a look...would be great if that solved our problem...but it'll probaby be nerfed too once everyone starts using it
