Yes I'm a noob...
I've hada problem finding a pistol I can at least level up with for smuggler. I'm 4/4/1/4 in smuggle. Most importantly... Is there any point on that third tree where I will quailify to use some of the better pistols out there? In other words... do I get any more pistol certifications as I move up in the third tree?
Thanks for you time guys!

I think upon completion of Pistol tree in Marksman, you get to use an FWCG5 (I probably got some letters wrong). I don't have the information in front of me. If you want to go higher than that, you should pursue Smuggler/Pistoleer. You'll get more pistols as options.
Otherwise, the one I listed would be the way to go. And get it sliced.

There are no Pistol certs in the Smuggler tree. Without Novice Pistoleer, your best bet is probably a good FWG5 or Scout Blaster.

I've gone through Pistoleer a few times and honestly, unless you're big on PvP you can make due without those pistol certs.
When I did hunt I carried an FWG5 for things vuln heat, a DL44 Metal scoped and barreled for nomal combats and a DX2 for things vuln acid or with light armor.

ya.. pistoleer really isn't a pve friendly profession... you can do more damage to something with medium armor and 60% kinetic and 10% acid resists using a tk than you could with a pistoleer using a dx2. there's something seriously screwed up with that.

Im begining to think that pistols aren't all that helpful in PVP... I'm just starting to get into PVPing and I can't seem to do any signifigant damge with a pistol. Any suggestions?
I really don't want to give up Fencer to go up the pistoleer tree

Thanks for the advice guys!! I'll keep fencer then. One more questions though... what's the difference between the FWG5 and the featherweight FWG5? Is the certification the same or are they different?
Also... as smugglers... can we use the geo sonic blaster?

Yes, pistols need a lot of work. Pistoleers have been given the line "Wait for the Combat Rebalance" for some time now, more than all the other combat professions. Hopefully, once that does come about, pistols will have their rightful place in combat.
No need to give up Fencer for Pistoleer. Just get that good FWG5 and you'll be fine.

If you can use an FWG5, you can use a Featherweight. The Featherweight has some skill mods on it. Can't remember what those are at the moment. Anyone?

I believe the featherweight is a bit faster.
If you can find one, get an SR5Combat pistol I got one that does 100-200 damage, you have to be in a bit closer but it works great. Also I've been getting full buffs and going to Yavin to take missions and grind XP in the time I have my buffs I make money and gain around 100,000 Pistols XP. Bring some Brandy and Moun with because the Entainer buffs only last two hours while the best doc buffs last three.
