Since becoming a master smuggler, I've enjoyed taking people under my wing and helping young smuggler apprentices become master. Last month, for example, a 0-2-0-0 smuggler came to me for some molecular clamps. The person was slightly noobish, but nevertheless was exstatic when I gave her 3 free crates of clamps , PLUS five crates of CDEF's to help finish out the slicing tree. We added each other to our friends lists and now we hunt together from time to time. The beginning of my smuggler coalition.
BUT,
Two weeks ago, I had another smuggler ask me for help. This time it was for help in the search for locked containers. Well, it just so happened that I had 16 unlocked containers sitting in my house that a friend of mine wanted me to slice for him. So I tell the smuggler to come tomy house and Ill give him the clamps and he can slice them there. Christmas for any novice smuggler right?
Anyway, I send him the Waypoint to my house, the guy comes to my house and I give him the containers, explaining to him that they dont belong to me and that he should slice them and give them back immediately to me once he's finished. What happens? He walks out of my house. So I follow him outside, and explain to him again that he can't leave with the containers because they dont belong to me. After a couple minutes of polite, remindful dialogue, the guy re-assures me numerous times that he doesn't have the time now, but promises to return them later that same night.
So, very much against my better judgement, I let him go and then give him admin access on my house. (All my truly valuable items are in my safe deposit box).
When I started the mountainous climb to smuggler back in september last year, I was helped tremendously by a smuggler on my server who did not know me, named HunterRose. Because of him, I always did random acts of kindness to other smugglers climbing the tree,
Never Again. I know that the sleazeball who stole my containers is more of the exception than the rule, but never again will I be taken advantage of by some little kid who either can't remember his promises or just doesn't care about them.
The Novice smugglers on LOWCA just lost a charitable mentor.

Its a proven fact,
You can trust most of the people most of the time. ok so that percentage goes down when you add the anomimity of the net.
Please, dont let one bad apple sour you. Jerks will come and go but friends last. Can you really give up the knowledge of how much better you made your student's experiences? Too often it seems like no one gives a damn about helping anyone else.
Dont give in to the dark side, fear and rage are the easy way.
I prefer cold revenge myself

LOL! I know that feeling. It depends though. It's like anything, just buy down one stage. Second best is 1/2 the cost of the best. I also like and will pay for a service agreement.
Kammi (Lowca) repairs the guns I buy from her for no charge. Repairing is risky enough but I view it like a warranty and taking it back to the dealership is always the best way to go in those cases

I have ONE person I truly trust on my server....MY SECOND ACCOUNT....I have never stole from myself.
I am totally honest, always with others, but I have played these games from the first UO days, AC1, S&BY, EQ, etc. and know enough to never give anyone admin rights to anything. I of course give admin rights to my second account, but that is it, I trust myself.

Are you guys sure on the droid costs?
My guild leader is MDE, he told me a maxed out R6 (6 det modules) would cost him 60 to 100k to make!

MSE droids are wery cheap to make (ex-DE) and the DE I spoke with said that the MSE's had a bonus to detonation.

WS? Nah! That's nothng! Ever sit and seriously consider the cost of time and materials a DE uses vrs the price of a droid? Especially MSE Bombs? I'll give you a hint: The markup percentage has 4 digits. Its worse than our spice markups used to be.

It's called supply and demand. So long as people are willing to pay it, prices won't go done.

Hehe... I'm not sure about that one. I have managed to find MSE droids with detonation power in the mid to upper 30s fairly often on Eclipse for 1000 or 1500 credits. I have even found them in crates of 25 for 20K. So unless it costs him just 1 credit to make it, his profit pctg is not 4 digits!
