Ok can someone explain just what Reactor Overload does, and I mean more than the info the game provides about it, "Reactor to generate more energy, at the cost of overstressing it." Ok, what does this get me?

reactor overload command, well... overloads your reactor energy generation rate.
also, use the appropriate forums to post your question, this has nothing to do in smuggler's board.

YamadaMan, with all due respect, this kind of reply doesn't really help with the reputation we smugglers have of being the most helpful forum in the game. I appreciate the sentiment, but since the guy did post here, maybe someone will be able to help him out all the same, right board or wrong.
I'd like to know, too.

I think I also answered the question, and didn't say "get off j3rk !", just a little precision.

With all due respect, I've posted many non-directly smuggler related questions here because this is often the place I get answers. I'm sorry if you are offended by a smuggler turning to the smuggler community for help. Since I know a lot of smugglers are going the privateer route, this is even more appropriate place to ask questions.
If you have a problem with me, a long time smuggler, asking my fellow smugglers for help, you are welcome to just ignore my posts. I am not going to stop asking for help from the only people who seem to be able and willing to provide timely and accurate information.

You really crack me up...I ask an actual question about the game and you give me attitude, yet we have a bunch of threads pitting various characters against each other (e.g. Lando v. Bugs Bunny, Chewie v. Worf) and you don't go post a similar message on those threads, which by your code of conduct, are far more inappropriate than mine. What gives? You wake up on the wrong side of the bed? You got some kind of problem with me? I don't know you, but I've been posting here for a long time, and some more "inappropriate" than this one, why you got to get so hateful and rude? I love you man, we're all smugglers here. I can see by your profile you are a mega poster and probably are some kind of forum god, and I'm sorry I offended your sensibilities and your code of conduct, but it's been like this since I started posting here last March. I didn't realize I was breaking the rules.
I'm sorry.

Reactor Overload, overloads your reactor and produces more power at the cost of damaging your reactors armor. Will cast you 5-10 credits to repair each time you use it. Overload2 gives you something like 1.3x and Overload3 gives you 1.5x more power. It’s a good way to save you some mass.

So it lets me load devices with an energy drain above the reactor's default output? Ahh, ok now I understand. Thanks a lot for the help. One more question if you would be so kind, how long does it last?

it lasts until you land...
my question is this: what use does a privateer have for the program? i can understand an imperial wanting to get a hold of it to counter the effects of engine and weapon overload... but without those programs, i can't seem much of a use for reactor overload.
i guess it's just something to trade with the imperials?

Nah, from what I understand it let's you run your ship at full power on a reactor with a lower output rating than your components need to run. Pretty handy if you're at the mass cap and can't find a reactor with enough power that won't put you over your mass limit.

Programed chips are tradeable. That means that if you have reb or imp friends you can get a chip loaded by them and install it into your computer.
Oh and Yama, get off the guys case, his question was very valid for smugglers...most of us are Privateers after all.

Okies.... that statement goes out the window when I see topics like "Jar Jar vs Bender" in this forum ( and Ilike the more friendly atmosphere where I can find fun topics like that ).
