Thread: What to do about a moron...

I'm almost tempted to put this in the Chuckle thread so the post will stay on the front page longer, but it doesn't apply.

So I'm cruising the boards, I hit the Core Systems board and click on a post made by one of our own. I won't say who, because I really don't know him that well, but he's a straightforward guy from what I have seen.

Anyway, it was a decent, non inflamatory post about the lack of services to change stats... There was a decent discussion going on, and lo and behold who is the first one to make a crappy statement. A correspondent. He totally took what was being said and trashed the point of it.

So what the hell do you do about a moron who's role is toinfluence game changes and "speak" for the community? It's attitudes like his that get other professions screwed.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Before I started tearing down my Dancer skills to start climbing the triple template, I use to frequent the Dancer forums alot. The last time I checked it, the PC was stepping down and they were looking for a new one. Hmmm, Im not too familiar with ingame - forum names. So I wonder if I know of him/her in game.

Zane, you gotta just take the good with the bad. If there wasn't decent, mature, and intelligent people here, I probably (Like many others) would never even visit the forums.

Though the discussion is a good one, I can see it on all THREE sides. The pros and cons of course, and also the very defensive. It would almost be as if a Chef came here and said that spice crafting should be given to chefs. We could have a pro/con discussion about it. However, Im sure a few people can get defensive about losing another ability.

Personally, the way, I play my smuggler toon, it was really Dreven's fault to begin with, let me explain. In order to smuggler we must have connections. And when things go from bad to worse we need alot of connections. I play my toon as a smuggler with connections. I know lots of people personally and inpersonally who provide goods or services. I myself have about 4 IDs on my friendslist that I know of. I never used their services, I never needed their services. Yet it is fun when someone goes running aroundspamming for an ID. I see a few ID connections on, I ask if they wish to be bothered. If so, I summon the poor sap over, and tell him/her, 'I can hook you up with the person you seek but a name will cost you 200 creds'. We as smugglers should be people who know people.

I was just thinking, while taking a shower, that isnt a bad idea. Since underworld is useless unless you sell FP or actively are involved in the GCW that another ability should be added to it. Say at tier 2 we are capable of searching not just a limited area but the entire planet we are on. Tier 4 we could search all of Naboo, Corellia, and Tatooine. Master we can search the entire server for players online. Thus we surely would have connections and possibly another source of income. Just a vivid thought though....NE

I agree with this, and had it not been he or one of the other players that I have a lot of respect for on this board, I would not have been quite so annoyed. I too try to make connections for the same reasons. I sit and talk to the dancers and musicians in the cantina when I can. Right now, I'm in the med center still, and I have had my wounds healed for over an hour now. The sad thing is that the intended effect of thie change was not accomplished. As I said in my post there, I have been looking for an ID myself for sometime. He was basicly saying that if there's noone there to make a connection with, then how is he supposed to do it. I happen to agree with him, but I was going to stay out of it until I saw a rather inflamatory statement by someone who shouldn't be making them. I know Corrs are entitled to their opinions, but after what happened on the GCW forum a couple days ago, I find it terrible for that particular Corr to say something like that to a player.

If the response had been better worded at the very least, I would not object, but I cannot find any justification in a post like that from a Corr. I've watched Caylin be as diplomatic as he could on this board for a long time. I've seen his posts from before his tenure, and a couple since he resigned. Maybe I'm spoiled by the quality of our Corrs, but I think that particular one could learn a lesson or two from ours.
