gotta look at the SAC too. On average the DL's have lower SAC and higher DPS. But they are close.
i had an AWESOME DL-44xt made with some nice krayt tissues, but the Action cost is so damn high that i can't use it unless i'm hopped up on Pixiedust!

Yes you want to go gentle with the SAC. You don't want to just walk around slamming it out if your SAC is jacked up way high. You will end up lying on the floor huffing and puffing, praying something doesn't walk up and give you the finishing touch, because you didn't have the energy left to manhandle the situation. You want to use finesse, not brute force, and in the end your gun and hand will be much happier for it, and you may have enough left with that low SAC to do it all again!

Seriously though, I have two that are very similar and will switch according to which is more effective against my target.
lucky me... I do keep a renegade and FWG5 on hand though...

lol, you are soooo getting crap for this when I get in game
From those I've seen, good Renegades (within a few points of dps) have a much lower SAC, so I'd go with that. My renegade has a +18 accuracy and ~30% wound, too. So I generally go with that.
Proton Carbine trumps 'em both, though.

DL44xt seems to be the better weapons. It only requires 1 handler so you can get two made for what it takes to make one Renegade. From testing the two I generally get better results with the DL44XT. Lower Action cost and better dps generally.
Plus it looks good.
