Folks, I've seen much reference to Smugler's being able to slice Starship components - forgive me if I've picked this up wrong, but I think this needs a very close examination.

My own opinion is that, yes, we should be able to slice components for ships - lord knows we need more content.

The problem is that this very easily devolves to the same situation we have at the moment - slicing is considered necessary for almost all the player base, but, should we try and charge anything more than a pittance , we're confronted with blank looks and some hologrinder undercuts us, thus devaluing the slicing market even further.

If ship components are to be made slicable can I suggest that ship 'parts' suffer wear and tear like current vehicles? That way there is a repeatable market for both us and the shipwrights to work with.Pilot's of damaged ships might then have to land on out of the way planets and earn money to buy replacement parts for their ships. Where have I seen that situation....hmmmm.

I'd also say that slicing a large vehicle component should need a waaay bigger kit than just a clamp and a couple of laser knives.

Your opinions please.
