Thread: The + and of PvE/PvP Bounties on Smugglers
Message Edited by Nerj on 06-17-2004 07:36 PM
I would like to see maybe an NPC bounty hunter take marks on people for their visibility, but no one should be forced to pvp.
I believe that having a high level npc, 50-100k ham as a bounty hunter with me as a mark would be interesting.
Lets say I fail to deliver some narcstims and do not pay jabba for the mission. He puts a mark out for me- BH-Joe sees me on the BH Terminal and clicks the mission. He clicks accept and I am sent an email. I then must slice a terminal to remove my name and cancel his mission, or must get a smuggler to help do so.

Another level of acceptance would be along the lines of a pop-up on BH-Joe's mark's screen.
Make it to where only online marks can have missions accepted for them. Lets say log-in puts their name on the rotation of missions, and log-out removes it. BH-Joe accepts the mission and since I am online, I get an e-mail saying I have been marked, then through datapad or some ingame accessable window I then have to either accept or decline the invite to be a mark. I insist on not having a Pop-up screen that you have to click yes or no ( such as bank transfers ) because the mark can be assigned at any time and could interrupt tell's, e-mails, combat, crafting et cetera.

Onto the idea about NPC Bounty hunters.... I think it would be neat to have an NPC bounty hunter such as fett or someone be able to spawn at your location, randomly, and attack you. Make the NPC only con to the mark and his immediate group. It would not be cool to have him spawn and EVERYONE chip in and kill them.
Their HAM should be considerable, make a tough fight to escape.
Either way there is a chance of being killed by a bounty hunter for being visible.

I think an acceptance issue for PvP bounties should be incorporated.

Glad you agree.. cause thats exactly what we have been suggesting in the revamp thread today..

Sorry I haven't bothered reading all 600 posts.
Nor would I have, had I not been in the middle of them.

I am sorry but I see A LOT of problems with this system. Taking of low level low risk Smuggler missions and contraband will NOT get you on the Terminals with the proposed system, where taking HIGHER RISK missions will. The visibilty system will be the same for US and JEDI (both were hunted by Bounty Hunters).
Bounty Hunters will complain, since we WILL take content away from them they are they ONLY profession whose JOB it is to hunt people. Would you want your customers going to a smuggler NPC for spice or slice. Why not, Bounty Hunters could say "we want NPC Smugglers to hunt" and we would have to remain silent since we did it to them FIRST!
Therefore, in order to have Bounty Hunters after us it will have to be PvP. Otherwise, there will only be some NPC looking to work up in some Crime Lords organization after us and yes they could have Heavy Armor , 50% resists, and 100K HAMs; but they won't be Bounty Hunters

Some have already, and I'm sure more are to follow, but one simple thing remains, 1st this is only theory 2nd if it does get implemented there will still be new PC mssions on the BH terminals because the PvE thing is only an OPTION for players not a requirement. I expect that the day of or the day after the patch they will in fact be overloaded with PC bountys cause we're all going to go straight to teh nearest BH terminal and try to slice it ![]()
They already have NPCSmugglers/criminalsto hunt.. thats what thier standard missions are.
Have them be contract killers? ( difference being... )
But my proposal about having the acceptance issue is because contraband is on the concept that EVERYONE (who is caught with contraband) will get some amount of visibility and have the potential chance to be a BH mark.
I believe Jedi should definately be an understandable non-acceptance mark. If you are a jedi, you're taking the risk of being on a terminal and you should be hunted down and killed, according to storyline means anyway.
Having smugglers doing smuggling missions should be the agreeing aspect of being a bounty hunters mark. If you do not want to be a mark... don't do the missions and dont screw up if you do decide to do them.
But I definately believe that those people who do not agree to PvP should have some danger for carrying contraband besides it being storm troopers or cops. They need to be surprised and attacked by a difficult target.
