I just got Smuggler and want to get Slicing 1, whats the fastest way I can do it? I made some Laser things and tried to slice both the containers I had and I failed. So where can I get new containers in large quantitys? And have you got any tips for slicing cos if I keep failing I will never get the first Level of Slicing :/

First thing I suggest you do is get some Molecular Clamps, this will keep you from failing. I know you've seen in the box when you go to slice the option to add a mol. clamp. Well, when you do it will come back and at the top of the box it will say the light came up blue showing you that you should cut the positive wire.... If you cut the blue then cut the red, BOOM, 250 xp. You just have to find a nice Smuggler that has gotten Slicing 4 to sell them to you. On getting the containers in high quantity, I don't have a specific way for you to get them, because lucky for me, my guild supplied all the containers I need. /cheer CAS!!!! But I have heard other smugglers saying that they just sat in Coronet spamming to buy them. You just have to make sure you have the money and that you have the patience with ppl and explain to them before you get the container that there is nothing inside so just buy it on the respect that whatever is inside is yours. Hope this helps you out. Also you can take a look at this thread it is what has helped me:

I smell a hologrinder.
The fastest way to get containers is to beg or buy them. That means standing in a Starport such as Coronet and spamming that you will open containers for people for free or for a small amount of money. If you try to loot them yourself (all NPCs drop them occasionally) you will be at it for days or weeks. If you're on Eclipse and are filthy rich, I'll sell you the ones I'm saving for several million!
And go out and buy yourself some Molecular Clamps... If you use Molecular Clamps correctly, you will NEVER fail a slice.

I am not a Hologrinder, I was a Droid Engineer but once I had mastered it I found that you need to spend weeks harvesting materials, some of which are very rare and do not appear for months at a time, and that you needed 100,000's of credits to maintain and run these harvestors before you can even start selling droid, well I decided that this was just way to dull, it just required way to much time to do and I only play like once or twice a week, Droid Engineer requires hours and hours of play every day.
So I decided that with the Space Expansion coming out, Smuggler would be a very nice profession and it also compliments Pistoleer which is the combat class I choose. So hopefully when JtLS comes out I can be a Pilot/Smuggler/Pistoleer which will be cool, cos I love being a Pilot ^_^ I have all the X-Wing games, and being a Smuggler and running Imperial Blockades and things will be a blast, far more fun that being some uber Jedi PvPer who "0wnz j00".
It will be cool if we can do thing like Smuggleing war heads and things to the Rebel fleet. Hoefully we can have 2 craft a YT-1300 for Smuggleing and an X-Wing for fighting Bucketheads(Imps).

I feel for you as trying to find enough containers is harder than maintaining the harvesters in my opinion. Begging and buying your way was never the way it used to be. From a roleplay angle it upsets me that I have to go up to someone and ask them if they have a container I can practice my illegal skills on.
You're going to have to kill a bunch of thugs to get them moreso than you used to last year. As an above poster stated, buy a set of clamps as that will be your saving grace. You don't even want to entertain the idea of slicing your locked containers randomly. You'll need a bunch just for slicing 1 and 2 as slicing terminals only grants you 100xp and containers grant you 250xp.
Also, if you can, I would suggest makingcrates of cdef weapons for you to slice. I forget how many you'll need for tier 3 and 4, but you should make at least 2000 crates and that might hold you over.

My apologies for the hologrinder remark then. We see so much of this. Good luck in finding the containers... You need 20 to complete the first box. For the second slicing box, stand by a terminal at a starport (bestine or coronet for example). You can slice the terminal every 2 minutes for 100 xp while you stand there and spam for containers. For the third and fourth boxes, you can usually buy crates of CDEF pistols or crates of knives and slice them for all necessary xp... so much easier after the second box. I didnt slice a real weapon until i made master.

Play any lottery today because that is just amazing. To be new to slicing and get that right off the bat is incredible.

Truly one lucky bastage!
After you're done with terminals, since you're an artisan, use some junk metal and make survival knives. Each takes 14 resources. Each crate gives you 6,250 slicing xp, assuming you use clamps, so you can figure out how many crates you need.

I'm not a hologrinder either, but will not be keeping Master Smuggler after achieving it.
I'm not sure if there is a term for me, I just intend doing all the professions because they are there !
