I was flipping channels on tv tonight, and stopped on Scifi. Star Gate SG1 was on. Doctor Jackson was Talking to two Alien smugglers They asked his name, he replied "o-lo" "hauns O-lo" it just made me laugh.

I liked the show. I suppose it was every farscape fans fantasy. Claudia wrapping her thighs around daniel jacksons head. A totally masochist sex slave of sorts. Though I have to say I felt it was a tad bit over the top and ridiculous. Based on the most juvenille fantasy.
Alien women breaks onto shop. Kicks everyone off but the good doctor. Dosent kill him because she thinks he is cute. He breaks lose after a sexy fight with I kid you not some definate loony toon references. He beats her puts her in a cell, and at this point I thought now this is ridiculous. Sexy kinky but I thought they could have gone without doing this story.
I do love the fact that sg1 is not bent over itself though.
If you watched atlantis tonight you could see the plentiful startrek references. I swear watch that episode and watch an original episode of startrek. Its the standard Captain kirk away mission. One extra dies off real fast. The second gets wounded then sacrafices himself for the team. Then the other two end up gunning the bad alien down, and finallythey call in ground fire on the alien. Like I said ripped right from a startrek episode.
All in all I like the franchises willingness to leach off of other franchises. Since it is done tongue in cheek.

Entirely off topic, but when I asked a friend way back what SGA was about, the response I got was "*cough* Voyager *cough*" 
I'll have to watch out for those episodes. Unfortunately we're somewhat behind in the UK

Other than the fact Claudia was on SG1 tonight, I was thoroughly disappointed in the episode. It was like a non-story storyline. There was absolutely no point to it, since it didn't make any progress.

I was not a big voyager fan. I disliked most of the characters on the show. I kept praying for the captain and the firstofficer to die. I Have to say like all the first seasons really stank when compared to DS9. Then later of when they got seven of nine in there things picked up.
Do I think that SGA is really like voyager. I would have to say no and point out the differences.
SGA isnt leaching off SG1 for material. Totally different story arc. The fact that they do not comingle is probabally good.
SGA while some characters are not great there is nobody I truely dislike on voyager.
SGA actually starts off with a storyline that is not right out of the oddesy.
Thats the thing that really ended up urking me about the voyager series. Here you have a ship of people that want to get home, and to their eternal disservice they also turn out to be the family that wants to stop along the way and see the biggest ruberband ball.
I hope to god SGA follows the SG1 format generates alot of story arcs, and keeps its eye on the price kind of mentality.
You know what when I think of voyager I think of the phantom menace in layout. Both have the same flaws. Neither actually goes in a straight line or follows any subtext very far. The reasons for doing anything seem to be a little convoluted, but lets not go into any rationalisation. I suppose qui gonn and janeway have the same twisted logic going. While you think they should be highly motivated to get the job done. Both seem to circle around personal obsessions.

Not on satellite we aren't, the newest series of SG1 followed by Atlantis is on Sky One every Tuesday night, Also, because of the Way UK TV shows new episodes every week, compaired to the US where they 22 eps spread out over8 monthswhen advertising revenue is at its best, we tend to get the last episodes of the season within a week of the US.

while i liked the basic premise of the story, i didnt really like the episode all that much.
the girl meant nothing to me (although i wouldnt kick her out of bed for eating crackers), as ive not seen farscape, it didnt look that interesting to me.
they expanded the tie-in with atlantis last week with the first mention of the prometheus voyage to atlantis, or at least where they believe atlantis is, and thats what this episode was to start, that journey. im guessing they will eventually get there, say, by the end of the season, or beginning of next season. probably one of there famous cliffhanger season spliters.
that is the only thing i hate about sg, they almost always split episodes at the 2 month winter break and at the end of the season. i can never remember what the hell happend in the first part.
im really torn on atlantis, i like the sg universe, and there is so much potential there, but it seems as though most episodes promenently feature mackay whining profusely throughout, and either sheppard, weir, or both, telling him to shut up.

I was under the impression that this is going to be the last season of SG1. It was only supposed to provide enough overlap for SGA to get established and stand on its own...

Last season of stargate. I am not entirely sure myself. I am betting it has two more years to it for no other reason then they would want to finish it up on a climbing arc. Right now they are on material rebuild. They still have to defeat the system lords wipe out the replicators. Then hopefully finish up all the lose ends. Plus they are just now starting to get alot of recognition. Seeing as what the first five seasons barely made it by. I remember waiting till like till 1 in the morning to catch some sg1 in syndication on the UPN network of all things. In other words the cast still has to wait till build up recognition. Nobody wants to become the next captain kirk or luke skywalker. Oh how pathetic and sad.
I liked farscape it was atleast more immaginative then most. Sort of like a modern age flash gordon tale. They managed to have decent story arcs, and pretty good effects on what was obviously a marginal budget. Not to mention well written. The series made you realize that its not as much the special effects that sell a sci fi series its decent writeing.
Anyone remember seaquest and its huge freaking budget, earth 2. The two series that almost buried mainstream scifi. Large budgets, but really poor writeing.
