First of all I'm not bagging on any prof that wants a revamp. But today I stumbled on this in the DE forum
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=droid_engineer&message.id=101090
It's good they want to make improvements to their Prof. But they got one allready. I find it funny alot of profs. have gotten Fixs and revamps, and still want more. It's like Smugglers are the only non-combat class that, are left out in the cold. I won't complain untill the fixs start happening and cooks, and DE get more then us.
I will say well organized thead they have there

Well in my oppinion smuggler has a double tweeking effect going on. On one hand the spice has gone down to near worthless. While on the other hand the master smuggler slice is damn near mandatory. The only reason alot of smugglers miss that. Is because its so mandatory that AS/WS go and just get master smuggler. So while the spice has gone down in want the slice has gone way up.
The DEs on the other hand have the same problems architects do. Once a player buys the item they never need to come back. You know how many times I have gotten to destroy another players droid 1 time. To which he laughed and pulled out another.
What the DEs need is what the BEs need is what the Artisans need is what the Architect needs. That is real decay on their items. That way once used up the player has to come get another, and there is no sidestepping the decay. After three hours out a medical droid should just blow up. Something should fail something should pop.Same thing with speeders and be pets and harvesters. All these things should have a set decay. That forces the player to replace them from time to time.
The gag is the devs give these guys more to make, but after everyone gets it they are back where they started.

Excellent idea there.
"This R2 unit has a bad motivator..look!" (I know, it was actually an R5)
You should have to bring it back to a DE and get a component replaced. I was a DE for almost a year and a half, and a smuggler in one char or another for almost a year. Both need changes, but Smuggler needs the complete revamp right now. DEs, without a doubt, need decay.

Well, everyone thinks their pet profession needs some work. Of course they're all fools and it's obviously the smugglers who need it most and need it first, but there's nothing wrong with the less-viable classes hashing out their issues and putting together some suggestions.
And DEs do need some help. They could definitely use some more consumables, could probably use something to set them off from each other (do resources or experimentation matter on anything for them?), and could possibly use some decay, though that's always a tricky issue. In any event, I hope them and the commandos and whoever else I'm forgetting are scheduled for the second tier of Professions Needing Some Love--the first being, of course, the sad smuggler/squad leader/ranger trio.

Slicing is not way up... they should change that tree to Whoring. We were never meant to slice for others, just ourselves. That's why there isn't an interface for it. I don't want to have that tree, and I don't really know anyone else that really wants that tree either. So from a certain point of view *cough*obiwan*cough* That's the worst part of our prof. I'm a 4040 smuggler because I consider both the other trees useless to me, and as much as I loved master smuggler, I needed room for other stuff that wasn't so useless.

Instead of repairing vehicles at garages, you should have to bring a crafted repair kit to vehicle garages along with your vehicle to repair them...just a suggestion. And vehicles do get destroyed...a lot.

architects have a bit of a right to complain now, they just got hosed on there decay issues.
which helps everyone else though.
now, if your maint runs out, it will try to deduct from your bank acount, and if your bank account is 0, then it will start to decay.
thats the way i understood it anyway.
i just dropped architect on an alt, so it doesnt really affect me, but id be super pissed if it did.

See the repair kits are a personal gripe of mine. The goal of all crafters atleast the noble ones is to make a top notch high end product, and repair kits and subcomps are not it. In general more professions need decay. Its not only good for crafters, but good for the community. It invigorates the gameplay.
If there was a serious downside to chronic speeder use that would be nice. People do not use mounts or even walk anymore. Harvesters last forever. Which means a player gets them once. BEs god everytime I asked for this on the ch forum I got half burned and half revered. BEs should be able to make level 13 non ch pets. Just so players will even use them anymore. Limited condition would mean they would have to be replaced relatively often.
I agree one hundred percent about the slice whoreing in the game. The problem is its mandatory, and has no down side to it at all. Even the crackdown which should have helped did not. Neutral slap on the wrist. Imperial no worries anyone. Thats why as a community I think we should push for temporary slices. Then atleast people will use smugglers.
I do not think these professions need an extensive over working. They just need some decay added on to their profession. To regenerate shopping.

I like the temporary slice idea, but I dont like the idea of it only lasting a few hours. I think it should last until the weapon is repaired. A repair would mean returning the weapon to as close to perfect condition (by condition I mean stock)as possible. Perfect condition doesn't include beyond spec modifications.
This would have add other things too. Because if a Smuggler got a bad slice, then the weapon could just be re-repaired and then resliced, I'm not sure how I'd like this handled, because Weapsmiths would simply repair items (at the risk of condition) until the ideal slice was gained. While I don't think this would bother buyers much, this might reduce the price of weapons, as uber-slices wouldn't become as rare, therefore cheaper. I don't think a buyer would think it's worth it to pay 2mil more for one weapon, when they can get an equally good slice on the same basic weapon that they bought for 15k. I'm not entirely sure about the details on this. Maybe a weapon should be unabled to repair until the condition is at 50%?
I do like the idea of more decay, but I'm not sure if making housesand such last only a limited time, as buildings can last hundreds of years. Maybe make it so you can only move a house so many times, then it's gone. Make the extra maintenance left on a building transferable through a chredit chit that only works on lotted structures.

Last until repaired is just a backdoor way for a player to get the slice they really wanted. If its done once a gun condition that means that other players will view it as a gouge. While 1 to 2 hours would be inline with the entire premise of smuggleing. You meet a group somewhere you slice their gear. Return it to them it lasts two hours then wears off. Now when they go back to civilisation they are no longer carrying any sliced gear. This would be good for the smuggler aspect of it. Seeing as most players will not feal they have no choice when it comes to sliceing, and the imp crackdown could be strengthened.
Once a condition is just a way for smugglers to gouge the public. Please do not push for makeing smuggler a buff line profession. Pull for it takeing talent to provide a bonus to teams. Even better if its timer is really limited players will have to ask themselves do I need a chronic slice going.

I don't like the timer slice idea because most of us really don't like slicing for people.
I do it sometimes when I'm asked, but only because I refuse to take less thatn 10k per item. If it's a timer, then Smugglers will be contantly bothered to slice. Having the slice reset at repair is easier to maintain and I imagine a heck of a lot easier to code. I suspect that you don't like this idea because it would mean that weaponsmiths wouldn't be able to charge outrageous prices for the uberly sliced weapons anymore. If the idea of constantly repairing and reslicing bothers you, then have it changed so the weapon/armor cannot be repaired until it is at 50% or 60% condition remaining.
Basically, I want slicing to become the exception, not the norm, and any way of changing this I am for. But the timed sliced just makes sliced weapons/armor less common, but slices would be in far greater demand

Don't even begin to compare a novice profession to an elite or hybrid professin. Novice professions are stepping stones. That said, DEs need decay. They also need a consensus. They spend too much time deciding whether they want to be droid handlers or crafters.
The DEs got what they asked for and now it's time for them to wait for the carousel to come back to them.
Architects are the most functional profession in the game, always have been. They also have dictated, to some extent, the overall economy of the game since launch. About the only way to give them additional money would be to have certain portions of maintenance on the structures be performed by tools and provide them with a benefit to repairing. Something tells me that it wouldn't be well recieved either.
There does need to be more random "breaking" in the game, but not just for droids. It goes for a lot of things. A person only has to buy a weapon every 3-6 months most of the time, and even less for some. Armorsmiths have a double degrade on armor and they still won't get the same person buying but maybe every 2 months at best.
In other words, they're all pretty much in the same boat, some of them have recieved revamps, others have not. Let the ones who haven't get some attention before we start talking about revamping droids and chefs again.
