Thread: In Concept Docs Stolen! Smugglers Seek Reason Why
LTZweigg; "The removal of the slicing docs makes the most sense, since the changes are coming in the near future and they seem to be different from what was originaly posed in the concept docs."
Yeah, different; ie. a whole lot less interesting. Not that I think slicing is interesting after two years of doing it.
And it does make you wonder if the smuggling content is going to be a watered down version of what was In Concept.
Bait and switch?
Oh please justapilgrim, this you call "love"?
The CU wasn't for Smugglers, it was for the GCW...we were fallout.
And slicing? Pfft, they broke it they had to fix it with something. Is that something better than we had before? Time will tell but it isn't a WHOLE lot better so far as the reports we're getting.
Smuggler 'love' is SMUGGLING content and we have yet to see that. Now the In Concept doc is gone with nothing to replace it but another "Soon" (TM) post on In Development.
Consider it a whine if you want but it's an accurate one.
Who let Skinny in here?
Back to the Valcyn Trade forums for j00!
I think the man reason for our concern (not whine) is that we are quite often shafted by the DEVS and many of us worried that by giving us "love" in bits and peices the DEV's would drag on the final product of what smugglers are meant to be in SWG.
Many of us wanted 1 revamp where everything was addressed as we worried that they would give us the slicing changes (ie whats happened now) and then reneg on the other stuff until a later date. Which the deletion of the Smuggler Mission documents would suggest there doing.

This was exactly the reason that I wrote what I did. It was not whining or complaining that I had in mind, but rather an attempt to keep the momentum going. The removal of the In Concept docs is puzzling and can easily be interpreted as a sinister move by SOE.
I'm glad we have a new slicing system coming. I’d be even more excited if the new slicing system was being implemented because we asked for it, rather than the need to fix the system that has been broken since the CU.
So forgive me if this was seen as whining by one person. But the question still begs to be addressed: Where did the In Concept docs go and why?
Elf; "My guess is so we didn't go, but you said this here but gave us this. Which goes to the fact that the In Concept docs where just that, a concept to which the final product doesn't reflect. "
And hence nothing but a pacifier to keep us quiet while they go about doing exactly what they want with no input from us.

Well, the slicing system turned out moreor less as I expected after the reports from Veela and Fishy about it being scaled down. The end result is still the same but the way there is less exciting (or less annoying). Although I thought the proposed mini-game in the IC document sounded pretty cool I also felt that it would probably get old really fast and those Smugglers who does a lot of slicing would come to hate it. I'm certainly not perfectly satisfied with the current incarnation on TC (not even a new UI? Come on!), but I'm ready to accept it and start focusing on the much more important matter ofSmuggling.
I do share your fear of Smuggling getting watered down though. The stuff in the IC document was nice but by no means revolutionary and I consider that the bare minimum of what we should settle for when it comes to Smuggling. Anything less than that and it will be... bad.
Oh well... anyone want pie? ![]()
