Thread: Slicing Tool Question from a BH with a bag of tools

I've got a few questions about the new slicing loot.

I've been running a bunch of BH missions (trying to get my BH armor) and i've got 20 or so assorted slicing tools. so i was wondering, do Smugglers generally prefer to buy these items themselves, or would you prefer that the customer who wants a weapon sliced buy the tools, and bring them to you?

I'm thinking of having my Tailor toon set up a vendor selling these items, so i just wanted to know who i'd be marketing this to. also, i know that prices of things vary from server to server, and i'll check on the lowca trade forum, but if smugglers usually buy the tools, what do you think is a fair price for me to sell them for?

thanks in advance guys, cuz you smugglers rock!

Same here, I've just started BH and alreayd I've looted 4 or 5 of these things. Are they actually of any use to a smuggler? They seem to drop pretty often, so I don't see them being of much value....

I'd say go ahead and sell them for a reasonable price....most but not all of the smugglers had stockpiles of auks and wuks to salvage. I've met quite a few smugglers that did not see the writing on the wall and didn't have anything to salvage once the patch came.

So basically, yes, smugglers need these items and although some prefer to have the client bring their own...sometimes it's just unavoidable that we need to make some money and the cliend has none of their own components.

To keep smugglers flexible, we need these components on us for slicing....so you will sell some to smugglers if the price is right.

Believe it or not, the stuff that drops on high-level BH missions is the more valuable stuff, because it's needed for the high-level slices. Don't let the apparent abundance fool you - we see a lot of it, but your server in general may not.

The best advice is to do a galaxy-wide vendor search from a bazaar terminal and see how much of each given item is out there and what the prevailing market is - then price yours a little lower if you want to help make it more available to Smugglers.

If you're concerned about speculators, post a message on your galaxy's trade forums and offer to sell only to those who can display their Master Smuggler or Slicer tag.

Thanks for the info. i'll probably save some stuff to use in my own personal gear, and just supply those to a smuggler when getting it sliced, than i'll set up a vendor for all the rest.

At first glance, this makes me want to cry.

Various slicing components are required for various slicing options. For example, if you have a simple toolkit, that can be used for a few low-level slices. On the other hand, if you have a bunch of illegal booster cores (required component for the highest-level damage slice), then those could be pretty handy.

In general, it's my impression that smugglers have not been buying these things very much. When the slicing revamp went through, we got the option to 'salvage' our old slicing kits to randomly appear as one of these new slicing components... so most of us have a bunch of these tools already. However, it was so hard to find some of the high-level slice components (booster cores, especially) that a lot of the time smugglers would say "I'll slice it for you, you have to go find the booster core, though" and then the customer would either go try to loot it (only in space missions prior to it being handed out to BHs, apparently) or they go buy it... for upwards of 1 million credits, sometimes.

Anyway... yeah, check the galaxy trade forums for your galaxy to see if you can find any current prices, then sell them accordingly on your vendor. Or not... /shrug

looks like from the trade boards that if i sell em for 50k-100k i'll be competitive, but i might even charge less for them. figure if smugglers don't buy them, than the person who wants a smuggler to slice their gun might buy them.

on a related note, i think it sucks that Non-BH's don't have much of a chance of ever looting these items, and it also sucks that you smugglers can't craft any type of slicing tool.

you guys have been through alot, and i've got nothing but respect for you dirty rotten scoundrels of the galaxy.
