Smuggler Archive
Thread: My turn, I guess :(
Ok, so I've become a statistic now. My account expires on the 17th, and I'm about to login to make sure all my structures are paid up for at least a few months. For 2 years, I've played this game while ignoring, or working around the bugs, or the lack of content. I've sat through constant nerfs, and went from wanting to be a jedi to hating jedi with a passion. I even cheered when the order was given in the movie. I've endured broken promises, and remained loyal to the one and only profession that could not do what it was supposed to do. Though many other professions were screwy, they could at least do their jobs. I've bought 2 expansions, even though the second contained the first. I watched a Dev come here and give us this grand illusion of what the smuggler would be. And then waited......
Then the CU came. At first I hated it. But then I found that with the CU, PvP was more within range of my capabilities, and fun! But that was only on TC. Shortly after the CU went live, I went to my recruiter and asked to go Special Forces. Tsk, tsk, I walked though a starport only to have not one, but 2 full template jedi attack and kill me, then gloat that they won. Yay! Good job, you defeated me. But had you checked yourselves, you'd have discovered that you are both jedi, and I am not. Hmm, I find that to be like Anakin and Obi-Wan attacking a clone trooper. Where's the contest? Same bs happens with one jedi. Oh well, there went my dreams of pvp.
So we were told that after the CU, we'd get our revamp. In pieces. The first piece, slicing, went to TC. Then everybody whined and cried because their weapon might break, and the smugglers would have to fix it. Ok, scratch that plan, can't have a useful smuggler in our midst. So let's slip in this new idea. Make smugglers have to have loot drops to slice. Even better, make them rare, high end loot drops that a smuggler can't solo very well. For instance, a Krayt dragon. Yea, that'll show those smugglers.
Then while the Bounty Hunters are getting new content, the Devs notify everybody that they are now concerned about the bugs that they haven't cared about in two years, and that no more content will be added. *sigh* There goes our pieces of revamp.
Really now, would it be that hard to add a terminal and at least some basic missions for the smugglers. For the sake of christ, for two years we've been given the "soon" spiel. In that time, Jedi have gotten how many revamps? How many things have been added? How many things were ripped out of the hands of smugglers. Chefs got better foods, meaning that spices were pointless, at least most of them, anyway. Slicing. Hah, we can't even slice a weapon past it's cap, matter of fact, the slicing cap is LOWER than the crating cap. Faction? Hah! Again! I know people who are farming FP at a rate of 2k+ per day. Since they don't have to pay for it, again, the smuggler isn't needed. When they no longer need the fp, or need money, they can sell it at a much lower price than we can.
If you aren't going to do anything to the smuggler profession other than repeatedly nerf it, then tell the people that post on these forums daily and watch intently for a Red Name to post something. If in the unlikelyness that you ARE going to do something, then by god DO IT!
I'll still be watching the forums after my account runs out. If something good ever comes to this profession, I'll be back. I didn't change from smuggler with the respec fiasco, and I'm not about to now. Smuggler is the reason I bought this game, not jedi.
I'd like to start off by saying that I think we've all just about had it with the Devs seemingly complete ineptitude when it comes to our profession. I hate to see it, but more and more of the people that I've come to know ingame have been seeking out greener pastures... honestly can't say I blame them a bit. I've gotten to the point now where logging on feels more like a chore than for enjoyment, it's not usually long after that until I quit the game and take up something else - though recently I've been considering something more like an extended break than cancelling my subscription completely.
P.S. I find it somewhat amusing how every one of these posts seems to have a number of "can't say I blame you"s. Doesn't speak well for the direction the game is going.
