Well, there's always been this rumor that the Jabba faction was intended to be in game until a few months before release but the devs didn't have time to finish the programming, much like player cites and speeds which had to be shelved for 6 months.
I guess if they ever do put the Jabba faction in, it could work just like the priviteer space profession.... you fight for whoever pays you the most money

They've said (at least to Veela at E3 
) that they now know how to implement a 3rd faction, but unless they've been keeping a huge secret under their collective hat, it won't be part of the Smuggler revamp; we'll likely see it someday in an expansion, but whether it's the one they're working on now is anybody's guess.

i was reading about the upcoming smuggler rewamp. and my question is will there be a 3 faction. and it sure sounded like you would benifit more from being a imperial rather than rebel. (tough i just came back from a 6 month brake..... its still like if you are a imperial colonlel you just get some message like " sorry sir......" ) anyways me being a twi'lek i gain nothing from being an imperial smuggler (again was like that last time i played). so if there would be a 3 faction we migth be seeing some all smuggler guilds witch i think is a rather good thing. it would enhance the smuggler/swg fun so much.
but another tought if there will be a 3 faction how will that faction participate in the GCW... or on the other hand should the 3 faction participate ? (and i am not talking about natrual being a 3 faction rather jabbas or lady valerian) just some random toughts about the rewamp and i am hoping it will be as good as the CU witch made me wanna play the game again
