Is there a guide as to which types of armor and weapons a smuggler can use, per their skill?

Recon armor(Cert is in the Novice box).
For the rest, most of it is level-based, not box-based. the Renegade is a notable exception, at master. Check the WS forum stickies for details on weapon certs.
