Thread: A glimmer of light in the dark world of the smuggler

ok so I've been away from the game for a few months and I decdied I would return and see how things are and get back into my smuggling business ( I love it even with the nerfs etc)

so anyhow I decided the first thing I would do was go out and make myself 100k on mokk and janta missions, I got buffed, and went out on missions.

now I must tell you now I always always have my master smuggler tag on, I carry enough gear to slice at least 100 items (probably much more)

so anywya I'm out slaying the janta and mokks and I get a tell out of the blue:

"are you slicing?"

I think well this is wierd I'm in the middle of nowhere and someone has found me out to get a slice.

so anyways the next surprise happens the guy pm's me agian stating he'll come to my coords which is cool (I'm used to customers demanding I meet them somewhere or we meet at the mining outpost on dant)

I slice his gear get a decent few slices on his items (love being master smuggler)

so i head back to coronet (aiming to get back to my home planet of Naboo)

when I get a tell in the starport (nothing changes)

and I get the usual are you slicing bluurb etc etc and I get a young 'lady' whom i sliced 4 items for which is nothing special.

and here is where my story takes on a special note.

I get another tell from a guy named Mokhim asking me to slice 2 items for him.

apparently he got screwed by another smuggler who cut the wrong wire on all 3 of the last lot he had!

so I sliced the warhammers for him both damage around the 30% mark (these were ackly if that makes a difference)

he asks me how much I charge I state the usual 5k per slice blurrb and he tips me 20k!

I know it's not a big tip but it just goes to show that though we get a bad lot in life as a smuggler there are people out there who appreciate us!

sorry If I babbled for a bit but I love being a smuggler!

Regards,

Nas.

i'm kind of shocked at the previous smuggler, how could he justify not using clamps? they are 100% accurate and with weapons like those acklay hammers the few credits he saved by not using them made sure that customer wasn't coming back.

anywho, over tipping/paying happens once in a while. it's nice when they agree to your price and tip you a bit extra, makes you feel appreciated and not like it's your duty to slice for them

yep, I've always found that being nice, helpful, communicative and reliable (as much as possible with random slicing)makes for good customer relations...and you get rewarded accordingly! Amazing how that works so well both in-game and...out of game SONY.

you would be shocked at how many people don't know how to use clamps. they think because they use them they can cut any wire and get a success. reading if fundamental.

Oh, it's quite possible to use a clamp and cut the wrong wire. A few months ago I accidentally did that 3 or 4 times in a row.

Now, before everyone gets mad at me let me explain. It was during my grind up Slicing 4. I'd been up all bloody night and my eyes were completely out of sync. I was almost on autopilot, didn't really pay attention to what i was doing until i looked up and saw like 4 "you have failed to slice this weapon" messages. I felt like an idiot.

Now then, with REAL customers, i'm much more paranoid about cutting the wrong wire, and as such get complaints that i slice too slowly. Ah well, it seems with this profession you can't please any of the people any of the time.

When I first took up smuggler, which was my first profession when starting the game, I didn't know what a clamp was let alone how to use them. After failing 37/60 containers at 6k a piece (I wanted to cry), a friend clued me in on what clamps are/do. Then I did cry.

Haven't missed a wire since.

Even carry some extra copper and a crafting tool on me for those off times when I forget to restock and run out.
