If you go read this thread you'll see a long post from a politician leaving the game, including many good ideas on how to improve the Politician profession - clickity.

"What does this have to do with smugglers!?" I hear you cry, well, one of the ideas is as follows:

-- Post office? The ability to send packages to remote locations and people for a price. Just a nice thought.

Now this got me thinking. If players had a place to dump all their stuff they wanted sent offworld to somewhere else, be it because they can't take it themselves, or they just can't be bothered delevering the goods themselves to their customers, it'd more than likely get used(hopefully restriction on what can be carried while being transported in a fighter or on public transport would also be introduced in order for this to work

).

This could then lead to commerce and trade and as a result give a great system for the smuggler revamp to tap into.

Anyways, just a tired man rambling his thoughts

Edit: Trying to use telepathy again, here's a bit I missed out (as kindly pointed out to me by the poster below )

The system I pictured had a 'post office' terminal, say at the capital of a planet, where shippers and smugglers could pick up a bunch of goods to be transported to a specific planet, or maybe a whole range of planets, depending on how much your ship can carry etc.

The bank system manages to transport your stuff around the planet in the safety deposit box somehow, so this isn't any less un-realistic than that.

Sorry, I was attempting telepathy again. Bad idea when communicating via forums.. or indeed when attempting to communicate.

So, with that, you wouldn't have the problem of people contending with NPCs, because there wouldn't be any doing it, unless, say, the order didn't get taken on by anyone within 12 hours (example) of it being posted.
