After the CU, I decided to try my hand at the smuggler profession. One thing I noticed is that when I slice something, the game tells me "you earn ### of Slcing xp." However on the skill tree, the only types of xp required are pistol and combat. Does slicing and spicing not advance you toward being a smuggler at all? I searched through the guides and FAQ as much as I could, but could not find any definitive answers.

Or you can save them up and trade them in for some free pie and beer here on the Smuggler forum.

You can still trade it in at the village...
As much as I wish SOE was getting back onto things.. Stuff like this proves they aren't...

It's good for a warm fuzzy feeling. I have some tucked away next to my apprenticeship xp. I'm saving it for a rainy day. So I can look at it and sigh. Then take a drink remembering how bloody long it took me to slice all the way up the tree.

As much as I like it, I wish they left slicing and spice xp in the tree.
Smugglers are a dime a dozen. Before with slicing and spice xp, the people that went smuggler actually wanted to be a smuggler and spent time grinding it. Now you can do it in a few hours with a pistol and a group. I see smugglers around that don't want to slice, sell fp, spices or even want to feel like a smuggler, but want the debuffs, etc...

Those are not Smugglers. Same thing with anyone who comes in here asking if Smuggler makes a good match with their current profession. The question should always be what makes a good match with Smuggler.
I'm working on a new character now and every bit of pistol goes into Smuggler right now, despite my eventual plan for Pistoleer.
