As of now we need to go to DWB and the Avatar platform to get decent slices.... I don't mean to b1tch but eh.. last I checked us smugglers arn't power houses when it comes to combat- and I know alot of people say that its possible to get a good DWB group- and I'm sure it is possible but its not easy. Its like telling an artisan to get stuff from the geo to build a good bike! I think smugglers have always been alittle weak as a class overall- but robbing us of our ability to slice without having to get an all cl 80 group is the worst we've taken in my opinion

How many artisians go to the Corvette to get the AV-21 Power plant? Even the driod engineer has to travel to the bottom of the DWB to craft the Armor and the Jet Pack. If either of these profession are master then the best they can hope for is a CL60ish. My alt is master smuggler/master Artisan and Merchant 0004. And I am CL55.

No, I don't think it sucks. Risk vs. Reward concept...people want that 8% damage slice? Well they better be willing to pay through the nose for it if I'm running around DWB and Avatar looting for parts.

I find this system far better. The quality of the slice is now tied to the quality of the smuggler.

Does the smuggler have the parts? Yes/no

I like it over having a Master WS with 0/4/0/0 Smuggler slicing his own weapons and keeping me out of some extra pocket change with no risk to himself. You want the good slices? You better find a good smuggler. Combat-wise we aren't powerhouses, and we were NEVER meant to be. You have an AoE weapon in the DWB with concussion shot? Your group will love you. Besides, I don't think anyone can solo the DWB so you'll need a group anyway.

This loot thing seems more like it slaps the dabblers than the smugglers. If you made your living off slicing, then now your job just got harder than standing at a starport spamming cheap slice prices. Slicing can't be done by everyone and their mother now...

And off topic, but equally infuriating. Dark Stormstroopers....those gorillas really irk me. "Immune" to daze my ass. Dazing a robot seems fine, so why can't I daze a CL 27 Dark Trooper at CL 80?

Problem for me is not so much the loot camping but the actual SLICING isn't any more 'fun' than the old slicing.

Now what they HAD on In Concept and we discussed for FIVE MONTHS sounded interesting...this though just plain isn't.

Yes, it sucks. Badly. Just as all the other "kill uber things to craft" changes suck. Looting weapon slice components from a freakin' Krayt? Thats lame, stupid, and unimaginative.

Just as unimaginative is the fact that, instead of putting the slicing loots on the loot tables for ALL creatures, they pick certain creatures to drop certain things. This just makes the hunt for them boring as hell. No imagination whatsoever. What about missions to get these things? What, too much imagination required? Take an extra 15 minutes to do and that might cut into someones break time.

And (deity of you choice) forbid they should tell you in the item description WHAT a given item can slice....no that would be too hard...ignorant and idiotic....

Is it me, or are things just getting worse and worse? Ideas that start out good seem to fall quickly into the same old habits. For instance, Creature health and resists getting higher and higher.......

I just don't know any more

I agree that it sucks now for sure. And I'm opposed to the idea of needing to loot simple and finely crafted toolkits, in order to do medium-grade slices. And then after all is said and done, the completed item is perfectly legal. You can wave it in front of a stormtrooper and nobody cares. That's weak.

But it's all so broken that it's hard to tell whether the system works. Critical % slices don't work. Damage slices don't always increase by advertised %s, so it's back to the badold days as far as slicing your nice weapons is concerned. Delicate Trigger Assemblies and Mandalorian Intraframes are more common loot than toolkits, and half of the components haven't been confirmed to drop in live at all (or more than once or twice). So it's really hard to judge the overall system since it's so poorly implemented.

-Zz (the remark equating slicing components from the DWB to DEs going down there for Mando is *hilarious*. And kind of a non-sequitor)

Toolkits should be in the hands of crafters.. If the devs are so hell bent on this loot system.. The least they could do is make it make some SENSE.... I dont see why if I am gonna be a good slicer it should hang on if I can kill Death Watch mercs.. I should be working for these things by way of smuggling, and combat driven missions... Missions given by the various crime lords/a criminals of teh galaxy..

Just look around all the NPC cities.. Look at all the "a criminals" they have out there... Look at Jabba's palace.. What purpose do these things serve?..

Question..... A Smuggler's job is to....

A) Move "illegal/contraband" goods from point a to b for a fee.

B) Use the "highend" content the devs have no use for since no one gos to..

C) Mez adds inthe Planes of Power sothe they dont kill the Clerics or cause trouble...

If ya said B or C go shoot yerself now and save me the bother....

We are smugglers, no matter how you wanna play it the title says it all.. And a smuggler is a criminal.. We should start playing our title and get the crap to do our jobs via working for the criminals of the galaxy.. Working for them all BIG ones and SMALL ones... But only for the good stuff for slicing.. I have said this too many times now.. I wanna be a damn pirate. I wanna hijack ships for parts, kills rival gangs for them....and even........GHASP!... Smuggle for them..
