Forgive me if I'm copying somebody else's ideas here.
It was suggested in another recent thread that the devs are looking for ideas that use current in-game processes
or processes that with a little modification that could be used for smuggling missions. Some ideas were suggested for
terminals (could be more...I didn't read the whole thread). Well, that got me thinking about how to incorporate
Space into smuggling missions.

terminals (could be more...I didn't read the whole thread). Well, that got me thinking about how to incorporate
Space into smuggling missions.
Here's a little outline to chew over and discuss/add to.
Jerrod Starchaser (a Smuggler) is in need of cash to pay off an "associate" that has been leaning on him for some time. What
is Jerrod to do? Well, he moseys over to a mission terminal [could be a NPC Fixer, too], slices it to get onto the Shadow Network,
and looks for a job.

and looks for a job.
There he sees a job to bring 4000 units of Neutron Pixie to a freighter in Dantooine Space. Rubbing his chin, he weighs the contract. He knows he
will receive enough money up on completing the job to pay off his debt, but if he fails, a bounty hunter will most assuredly be sent out
after him. He takes the contract, thinking the risk is worth the reward.

OK, first things first. Make 4000 Neutron Pixies. Easy enough, Jerrod has the skill to make NP. Done in no time.

Now, to store the NP on his ship. Jerrod can't use the public transportation system because he willl be scanned and caught for sure.
[How to accomplish this technically in-game would be to set the characters "smuggling flag" (a database boolean) to true and to not
allow a character to use public transportation if this flag is true]

Jerrod has a ship but it is not currently equipped properly to house this much NP in secret. But Jerrod has a plan. He will remove some armor
or some of the customizations he has on his trusty X-wing in order to place secret compartments to hide the NP. His X-wing has a compartment
that he installed in his novice smuggler days, but it wont hold this much NP and won't block scans for it either. Along the way to becoming a Master
Smuggler, Jerrod has picked up a few tricks that will come in handy now.

[The Basic Smuggling Compartment would be a recipe a smuggler would get at Novice Smuggler, the advanced version (more impervious to
scans and larger capacity etc) would be available at Master Smuggler. A Basic and Advanced 'scan spoofer' could also be included from various
skill boxes also.]

Jerrod hikes over to the starport to begin work on his X-wing. He calls his shipwright buddy to get a few parts for his spoofer and compartment.
Once receiving the parts he constructs the compartment and installs it in his Xwing. After dark, he moves the NP into the compartment and readies
his ship for takeoff.

After getting underway, a complication arises...a squad of RSF fighters begins scanning his ship. Hopefully the scan spoofer will do its job...
[Any character with the "smuggling flag" set to true that enters space generates a squad of cops or pirates. The scan has a 90% chance of failing
when using an advanced scan spoofer. If the scan is successful, cops/pirates attack. Attack should be sufficiently challenging for the smuggling
piloting level. If the smuggler's ship is destroyed, cargo is lost and contract is failed. This sequence could/should occur after hyperspace also]

Jerrod clears the scan and jumps to lightspeed...
Exiting hyperspace in the Dantooine system, Jerrod does a quick scan for the freighter. Finiding it, he speeds off to meet, docks and delivers cargo,
credits are placed in his account and the freighter is off.

Jerrod lands back on Naboo and goes to find his "associate." All in a day's 'work.'
What do you think?

I like the sound of it, but your 'scan spoofer' should be made by the smuggler and not Shipwrights (I give them enough of my credits already) and “secret compartments” could just be a mod of the existing cargo hold used for space mining, where the amount that it can hold is based on the size of the cargo hold itself. So the larger the ship the bigger the cargo hold can be. This should encourage smugglers to use there VT49 Decimator, YT-1300, or YKL-37R Nova Courier

They already said they are trying to make them as simply as possible, with as much pre-existing systems as possible... Not stuff thats innovative and new. And besides, I don't think they're taking any ideas, and if you'renot careful thegrumpy smuggler vets are going to be all over this one, posting the Smuggler History by the Dev's in here... Just giving you fair warning.
