Thread: Hows this For Slice Prices?
I've got an even easier set of prices... Here's how to system works, you take the customization points, then times it by the square root of the drop rate on the second highest level component neccessary (substituting no components with 3.534) then add that to the drop rate percentage of the highest component required, and times that by pie and beer, and then tell the customer "Sorry, I don't feel like slicing, cuz I left it all at home... Bye now!"
Works 100% of the time!
P.S. I'm just fed up with all the f%cked up drop rates, and no stacking, and the loads of other crap wrong with slicing, so I just slice for a SINGLE friend of mine and nobody else... I don't want to deal with explaining the new system, I don't want to deal with carrying it around, I don't want to deal with trying to keep up with pricing that seems to be on a rollercoaster! Screw it all!

I created and posted a Pricing Guide for slices before the ICBs started dropping. It was:
lvl1 = 50k
lvl2 = 100k
lvl3 = 150k (lvl3 dmg = 800k)
lvl4 = 500k
Half price if you supply your own components.
Now, since the ICBs drop like candy from the sky, I have watched on Eclipse as people still try to get crazy prices for ICBs in auction. So I made a plea on our forum, which was received with positives and negatives, but went ahead with my plan to force down the costs of slicing for everyone.
The current price system I use is:
lvl1 = FREE
lvl2 = 20k
lvl3 = 50k
lvl4 = 100k
Half price if you supply your own components. One additional FREE level if you bring a friend for slicing.
Before the ICBs dropped, I made a few hundred million* as I have an established client base and a LOT of parts. Now that I dropped prices, I can barely keep up. And am loving every minute of it.

*ED - this amount was since the slicing system change. I am the longest running Master Smuggler on Eclipse and this number does not reflect my business since gamelaunch.

Not bad, but considering how rare finely crafted toolkits are, I'd say flip it so its more like this;
Level 1= 50k (for no component slices) but 250k for anything requiring a simple toolkit
level 2= 150k for armor slices but 500k for anything requiring a finely crafted toolkit
Level 3= 100k
level 4 = 100k
With the jacked up drop rates, the lower level simple and fine toolkit components are significantly more rare then any of the advanced stuff. These prices would reflect that.
Tier 1: 10k
I've done lvl 52 merc missions on lok with NO success. This is really bitting my balls.
I have made sure to /rofl at anyone who offers to sell me slicing goods. Slicing goods are given to me as TRIBUTE for my magnificence!
(/megalomania off)
My price macro lists 4 options:
/r *whisper*OK...here's my weapon slice price list...
/r Spd/Dmg Combos (wimpy): (4%spd, 4%dmg). Price at 100K.
/r 'Ludicrous' Speed: (12% spd). Priced at 200K.
/r 'Overly' Critical: (10% crit). Priced at 200K.
/r Top 'Damn' -age: (8%dmg, 2%spd, 3%crit). Priced at 300K.
This keeps most of the n00bs from asking about the low-end combos and the dreaded"Which one is best for [insert weapon name here]?" If someone asks if that's ALL I can slice, then I reply, "Nope...I can do 'The Works' for 500K." Its the very same slice as the top-lvl dmg,yet almost every single one says, "Oooh...that's the one I want." The average IQ level of players in this game must be a good deal lower than even real-life.

This is the reason I hate the new drops. I used to get 800k for that slice -- easy.
slicing is just stupid now. Glad you're still able to get that much for it.
Wow...
This is what i charge...
I used to charge 2k/customization %... or 200K for an entire slice... if you provide the components, that's all i charge... i just dropped to 1k/customization %... But that's also because of the influx of the ICB's...
BUT, the last slice i did before that pub change was the lvl 3 dmg, lvl 1 speed, lvl 1 critical. The ICB's were in such high demand, i ended up buying one for 2.75 million... and charging 10% above that to have the item for my time for that as well. I never charged for simple toolkits as i ended up getting a lot of those and rather get rid of 'em for free...
Other than that, i charge based on what i paid for the component... sometimes i charge cost if they are doing a multiple slice with me (ie 7 armor pieces)...
Plus there are suddenly a lot more smugglers out there... at least on Valcyn anyway.
