Hey all,

Im looking to pick up slicing 4 but im told that you only get the good slices at master. From what I understand as you go up each box in slicing it just grants you to slice better items and gives you better slicing tools. Also I understand that the slice % is completly random. If anyone can clarify that would be great!!

Thanks for any input

Slicing still is random, but the cap is higher at master. for me it IS worth doing because I slice lots of stuff (doing 50 sets of composite for someone tonight) so you can make some BIG money if ya slice lots of stuff.

It has been confirmed several months ago by greenmarine that masters do get a bonus to slicing, but no exact numbers were given. As to the random factor in slicing, it seems to be on some kind of weighted bell curve. The average master slice is somewhat higher than the average slicer slice, and masters hit over 30 more and under 20 less, but a master can still hit a 12 on a gun (have done it once myself) or even lower on armor, and a slicer can very rarely get over 30 on a weapon (did this twice when I was a slicer.)

Now as to whether or not it is "worth" it....

For pure functionality given the number of skill points that have to be spent? Absolutely not. Save your points and have some one else slice your weapons and make your spice while you put points into a more "usefull" profession.

For pure Role-play value? Definately worth it. I have been a master smuggler since sometime last august or september and I do not intend to give it up unless I manage to master everything but bounty hunter before the jedi revamp comes out (unlikely).

In the end you kinda have to decide for yourself whether any particular profession is worth it, but if you are intent on making a lot of cred, you might be better off with a Chef/BE. If you want to kick butt in combat, then go Rifleman/CM or TKA/Fencer. If you want to roleplay, be a smuggler.

Thanks for the huge response Anubi!! The reason why i was asking is cuz im a master weaponsmith but ive hard avery hardtimefinding a reliable smuggler on the shadowfire galaxay so i figured why not do it myself. So going lvl 4 slicer is all about funtionality and saving credits on smuggler slicing costs.
