I was reading the text on the new Jedi Ravamps...and correct me if I'm wrong but are they saying that a player can dable in some low level jedi skills to gain greater abilities to craft or to do other abilities? So does this mean that the best smiths...and if they change it slicers and spicers will be part jedi? Furthermore, are they going to make combat skills the same a way...A Master Smuggler, Master Pistoleer who is part jedi will have better stats...Why are they making this game into some generic Fantasy RPG where Jedi is jsut another Profession. if ANYONE can be jedi nearly EVERYONE will especially if they get bonus's to skills.

I don't remember han solo or ANYONE OTHER THEN LUKE LEIA THE EMPEROR VADER OBI WAN AND YODA having force sensitivity. If EVERYONE can have "force enhanced" abilities won't this just degrade the game another step away from starwars and into a more fantasy game with "magic abilities" AKA "the force" for all characters making those of us with NO INTEREST in becoming a jedi weaker then everyone else.

The skills you are referring to are 'force sensitive' skills, not Jedi skills.

Though I don't recall a specific instance in any of the movies, a number of books refer to 'force sensitives'. This does not imply that the person is a Jedi, or even has the potential to be a jedi, but that the person has some extra something that helps them out when they need it.

The idea is basically that a force sensitive entity has a small channel of force, whereas a Jedi has a river of force.

These skills are (probably) going to be almost useless, but might provide that extra little something that makes your toon YOURS, as opposed to just another cookie from the cutter.

I actually think it's a pretty nice idea. There are numerous people that are seen to be FS in the EU without their even knowing it. Had they been born into a time when the Jedi were still around and numerous enough, they'd have been noted at birth and given to the order; or if they lived as far out as say, ooh, I don't know, Tatooine, they'd simply be overlooked

I think my main worry is that there are going to be a LOT of Jedi running about. Maybe not for a while, but a few months after publish 10, every man, woman, child, dog and hamster's likely to have the second slot (heck, I'll be doing the quests just for something to do). Whether most of them then go on to become Lightsaber wielding Jedi is another thing.

I'm guessing the Devs will have to step in at some point should the population get too high.. I dunno, perhaps make a seperate server or two just for Jedi chars. Wouldn't be too bad.. just increase the number of NPCs and call it an unlocked sub-game, KotDR (Knights of the Destroyed Republic) or something .

Its funny you mention Han. A lot of people thought that maybe Han's luck had something to do with a bit of Force Sensitivity. Also there were a lot of people outside of the main scope that were FS. I believe I recall reading that the red cloaked guards were FS and that the emporer had a whole group of FS warriors I believe that they were called Dark Troopers or something like that. FS was very common in the EU. JEDI were rare. And unless I misread they ARE capping the Jedi population.

Smuggler + Force Sensative = Mara Jade (Skywalker)

There's your point of reference.

She was a trained Force-sensative who served as an extention for the Emperor. After his death, she spent years hiding her abilities and reliving his death through dreams ofthe flashes she recieved from him through the Force as Vader threw him into the reactor core. She eventually joined up with Talon Karrde, who, as luck would have it, was based on a planet that was home to a creature that blocked out the Force. She eventually became his right-hand operative in his smuggling and information brokering operation.

During Grand Admiral Thrawn's campaign to revive the Empire, she was brought face-to-face with Luke Skywalker, who she had sworn to kill as revenge for the Emperor's death. Through a twist of fate though, she found that she needed him to stay alive.

Her hatred for Skywalker died after she killed a clone of his which had been engineered by Thrawn. She then felt a peace and slowly allowed herself to open to the Force.

She and Skywalker maintained a distant friendship, and she declined to join the Jedi academy, deciding to remain with Karrde's organization instead.

Eventually, she was thrown together with Luke again on the planet Nirauan, where they both came to terms with some issues that they had been avoiding regarding each other. In the heat of a life-or-death crisis, Luke proposed to her. She accepted, they survived, got married, and only THEN did she take up the training and eventually become a Jedi Knight and eventually Master...

So...there's one example of a Force-sensative who is not a Jedi, but eventually becomes one. I think the Devs came to the realization that there are different levels of Force sensativity, and are working that in for the betterment of the overall game. And, if nothing else, like someone else said, I'll do the quest just for something new to do...

Unfortunately no. They're capping the number of Jedi with high level ranks. This means that while there may only ever be no more than say 12 council members on a server, everyone on the server could still be a Jedi Knight (unless things change).

as far as i can remember there is a big difference between being force sensitive and being a jedi, the untrained wielders of hte darkside that shows up on different planets are not jedi they are merely force sensitive. in a force sensitive caracter the force is merely a passive skill, while in the jedi its an active skill.

And in the EU and the original movies there are other force sensitive characters, not just Luke, Leia, the emperor, vader ,yoda and obi wan.So if these had the proper training they could wield the force like a jedi. I dont think everyone will be a jedi after the quest system, i think its more likely to see alot of force sensitive players, and fewer full fledged jedi running around, since thechoice is there to be a WS/FS or a RM/FS it just gives people a choice, the jedi way of life will probly be harder after the revamp as they are perma overt at a certain level.

I was more upset when i read that force sensitive may have a better crafting ability. I'm guessing that this will apply to all fields so that thoe who are force sensitive will have better combat stats etc. And I know that in the books there are many force sensitive people. However, this game is not set in any of those times. There shoudl not be hundreds of people running around with Force senstive skills. there shoudln't be hundreds of jedi for that matter. They were killed. Those who are force sensitive are also hunted. I'm just afraid that this game will turn into a game where everyone is a jedi or has a jedi and anyone who doesn't can't compete in anything from combat to crafting weapons, structures, and ships when they come.

Don't assume that unlocking the Force sensitivity will be easy to get. I like the idea, it fits the EU and FS people, but just because it's different, don't assume it will be easy to get. Unlocking FS is like the first step to getting a Jedi. Before it was master proffessions, unlock a Jedi slot. Now it's going to be do some quests, unlock FS, after much work and trials become or unlock a full on Jedi.

I don't know why you are convinced everyone will get FS, it will probably almost as hard as it was before.
