ok when i got this game i had intense aspirations to be a profession which reflects my avatr name. my name is brylek fett and there fore i wanted to become a bh badly...however after researching about bh on forums i am not going to do so...the main gripe is that they arebuggy and havelittle defensive skills. now i want to be a master smuggler and dabble in tka and commando(could you be all 3 at once??plz help..). i have a question however.....how does one get artisan engineering/business xp?? it will be a few days til i play bc i am a weekender and i really need help....and another factor is that im 4142 scout and 2144 marksmen and i dont wanna drop all my scout stuff for smuggler....so if you could tell me some pros/cons of smuggler id apperciate it, but plz be elaborate.

As for businessmen XP, no idea - perhaps you should go try the artisan board?

Quick rundown on the artisan / business xp.

At novice, you level everything in artisan (except survey) by crafting. You even level the business tree that way. You can craft up to Bus III and get a vendor then finish off the tree if you want merchant.

At merchant, you get xp in a number of different ways. You get xp when people look at your vendor, when you sell stuff, when they pay an access fee, or just by having vendors up and running with stuff listed on them for a period of time.

Artisan boards will be the best place to find out what to craft and how to run a simple vendor.

Merchant boards will be the best to give you an idea of which merchant skills you might want to train.

Pros of being a smuggler:

Very cool profession RP wise. You can make money in smuggler fashion with all 4 trees and in distinctly different ways. You can sell faction, slice weapons and armor, run missions, and sell spice. Some, like me, sell smuggler tools. You have great pistol specials, lose only half the FP in PvP, require resources of any quality for crafting, and have a move that prevents a deathblow. The prereqs will also give you melee state attacks. You have a 90% chance to evade a contraband scan.

Cons of being a smuggler:

Underworld is not that useful if you are not into PvP or a high ranking factioned officer. Slicing can be a tell hell and is still quite random. You get no combat mods with dirty fighting. You cannot use your DF skills as effectively as if you were to train some pistoleer. Remember, smuggler is a novice marksman and brawler. Spice does not sell quite as well as it used to. Many view a lack of actually having anything to smuggle as a big downside. No class specific content yet (unless you count selling junk to jawas).
