Thread: Whats the best way to inform the populace that you're a Colonel who wants to sell Faction Points

I'll be Rebel Colonel soon (within 2-4 days). The two MAIN reasons I made the grind up was to:

  1. Sell FP and make a gazillion credits easily. (well .... at least that's how the people already at Colonel make it sound)

  2. To be able to get faction items for cheaper in the hopes that I can capitalize on the NEED for Rebel space ships when the SE comes out.

My biggest question, now that I'm close and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel is .....

How do I let it be known to .... everyone .... that I'm available to sell Rebel FP??

I NEVER spam the starports and I get a TON of business slicing, but I rarely rarely rarely get asked about selling FP. I can actually think of four times that I did get asked to sell FP. The first two times I explained that I've never done it before and I'm not a Colonel. That ended that conversation The other two times I sold FP and made a TON of money ... the last time (a few days ago) I sold 5500 FP to a guy for 1 million credits and then his buddy ran up and asked for the same! With the rate I delegated, I made 980,000 cr in the 1:15 it took me to do it for them. THAT'S cool.

Help me figure out the best way to "advertise". I hate spamming but I'll do it if it's the only real reasonable way to get your "service" out to the market.

Thanks!

ps .... 100 cr / FP ?? 120 cr / FP ?? What does the market look like these days for pricing my services (compared to when the Smuggler FAQ stickied up top was written)?

I would recomend some sporadic shouts if you don't like spam... Most of the newcomers doesn't know about FP selling, so, make them aware of it should help.

Start with a post on your server's trade boards. State your rate and your rank.

Next, see if you can find other rebel smuggler's that are selling faction and let them know you would be available to assist them if they need another colonel for a sale. That way, they might throw some business your way if they can't get to it.

Also, you may want to find some Imperial smugglers that are selling faction. I get quite a few tells from Imperial friends that value my opinion asking for a reference for an Imperial smuggler that is selling faction.

One last thing to do is contact some owners of rebel bases asking for "permission" to use them to sell faction. The proceeds from the sale go into the maintenance pool for the base so you would be doing them a favor in addition to sticking a bug in their ear that you are available for sales if needed.

One thing I didn't add was if you have room, squeeze your rank and rate into your bio.

Here's the post I made on the bria forums Also emailed it out to some potential customers it works well its a bit long but that's because its informative as well:

*top secret transmission*

To All Ranking Rebel Officers and Associates:

These are hard times for the rebellion. The galactic civil war is escalating and although the empire suffered a tremendous defeat at the Battle of Yavin with the destruction of the Death Star, the Supreme Chancellor Palpitine has enacted martial Law in the entire galaxy. This military crack down and proliferation of military forces on our home planets has forced many rebels and those sympathetic to our cause into hiding. My associate (Caqoshor) and I (Zazo) have taken up the cause. Normally, we are spice dealers but our ability to smuggle vital milatary equipment and installations is now our priority.

Here is our cost for faction perks to Loyal Rebels. Please send all requests via Email and be specific. We will reply with a price and a time frame. All orders must have 50% of the costs paid prior to aquisition and 50% paid upon delivery.

Turret Info:
All turrets are vulnerable to blast damage. With exception to the Small Tower turret (has 20k health and no resists), all turrets have medium armor 100% stun, 95% energy, 80% rest except blast resists.

Tower: energy damage and have built in minefields.

Block: blast damage

Dish: kinetic damage and have built in covert scanners. The small dish has a very small scanning range, the large has a smaller range than a covert scanner.

For Purchase of Faction points directly the price is 100 credits per point. Both Caqoshor and I are colonel and can transfer faction points for rank.

Below is a chart of Ranks and maximum Fps for that rank this was taken from the forums however I'm not sure who the original poster is to give proper credit for the work.

RANK = Points required to promoted rank = Amount of points you can hold at current rank (10.1 x Amount of points spent to acheive that rank) = Ratio of delegated transfered points (example)

1.) Private = 200 = 2,020 =6.50:1 (Costs 650 to send 100)

2.) Lance Corporal = 600 = 6,060 = 5.0:1 (Costs 500 to send 100)

3.) Corporal = 1,000 = 10,100 = 4.0:1 (Costs 400 to send 100)

4.) Sergeant = 1,400 = 14,140 =4.0:1 (Costs 400 to send 100)

5.) Staff Corporal = 1,800 = 18,1800 = 3.0.1:1 (Costs 300 to send 100)

6.) Staff Sergeant = 2,000 = 20,200 = 2.5:1 (Costs 250 to send 100)

7.) Warrant Officer II = 2,500 = 25,250 = 2.3:1 (Costs 230 to send 100)

8.) Master Sergeant = 3,000 = 30,300 = 2.00:1 (Costs 200 to send 100)

9.) Sergeant Major = 3,500 = 35,350 = 1.9:1 (Costs 190 to send 100)

10.) Warrant Officer I = 4,000 = 40,400 = 1.8:1 (Costs 180 to send 100)

11.) Second Lieutenant = 4,000 = 40,400 = 1.67:1 (Costs 167 to send 100)

12.) First Lieutenant = 5,000 = 50,500 = 1.54:1 (Costs 154 to send 100)

13.) Army Captain = 5,000 = 50,500 = 1.43:1 (Costs 143 to send 100)

14.) Major = 5,500 = 55,550 = 1.333:1 (Costs 134 to send 100)

15.) Lieutenant Colonel = 5,500 = 55,550 = 1.25:1 (Costs 125 to send 100)

16.) Colonel = 6,000 = 60,600 = 1.18:1 (Costs 118 to send 100)

17.) Brigadier General = unknown = unknown = unknown

18.) Major General = unknown = unknown = unknown

19.) Lieutenant General = unknown = unknown = unknown

20.) General = unknown = unknown = unknown

21.) High General = unknown = unknown = unknown

With my master smuggler title up, I get a tell maybe once a week or so requesting faction points, but I have to turn them down as I'm not a colonel. Dunno whether I'd get more requests if i advertised, but i do get some now.

I get most of my faction requests through in-game references. I estimate about 15% of my sales actually come from my message board advertisements.

The best way to generate sales is to make friends with Rebels who already have bases established. I was getting some good sales selling to people who had bases placed and wanted to purchase expansions/replacements.

Also, I noticed that on Intrepid, even though Imperials claim to be more into hardcore PvP, there are very few (if any) cities with Imperial bases (at least ever since they fixed the xp->fp exploit). I talk regularly with the two main guys that sell Imperial faction perks, and they said they rarely sell Imperial base deeds. (shrug)

I don't mean to jack the thread but...

Pardon me Zazo, how do you calculate the costs for your wares? I'm not colonel so

I'm not exactly certain how this works

It costs 80 credits/point to buy, right (10000/125 = 80)?

For example, a covert faction scanner costs 500 fp according to your post.

So with 1.18:1 transfer, that's 590 points to buy

Multiply 80 by 590,a nd that gives you 47,200 credits to buy at cost.

While you listed your cost at 41,250, a net loss.....am I missing something here?

Imperials get a 30% discount on faction perks, so the cost for a covert faction scanner isn't exactly 500 faction points. Also, I think the master smuggler faction discount is applied after the Imperial discount, so the total faction point costfor a covert faction scanner would be 262.5 (263) points.

For Rebels, they get 138 faction points when they pay the recruiter 10,000 credits, so the cost for faction (after colonel transfer rate of 1.18) is 85.5 credits. After transferring the points to another Rebel master smuggler (faction point cost for a faction scanner is 375 points), the cost is 32,062 credits.
