LOL, no serious... i'm a triple master too... aside from the uselfulness of sticking intim/stun/blind/kd/dizzy on enemies and spamming healthshot2 on those who can't heal, yes, the triple master is kinda weak. If they can't heal, healthshot2 is really the only shot you need. I find myself only using fanshot when an enemy is low on mind, and i can get that with my geo.
At large ranges man, i'd suggest just getting a nice republic blaster.. the accuracy is about that of a rifle at 60 meters. You can make up for your weaknesses though. If you are almost about to be taken down, feign death before that and then use force of will when the coast is clear.. get back up and start kicking butt -surprise the hell out of them!
I find myself as in support role also bro. If you have some stun armor, good food, and a nice shield generator, you will be damn near impossible to kill because of all your defenses though, so at least you survive for a long time... able to deal what little damage you can for a long period of time. I find it almost evens out
Also. Pleaasssee don't forget about the combat rebalance coming up. Pistoleer is a joke in PvP, and TKA is almost also as combat stands. I tell you now, the elite combat professions will all be usefull after the balance, just in different ways. Pistoleer won't be like shooting a BB gun (you know EXACTLY what i'm saying here), dual wielding is coming to. You get the picture, triple masters after the combat rebalance will be a whole new beast. I wouldn't drop it for now though. Riflemen will be designed to operate as snipers, carbines will be as you'd suspect, and pistoleer will be the in-your-face-run-'em-and-gun-em class that it's supposed to be. TKA is also up close and personal. So you're looking at a combo that will be neatly diverse tucked in your groups melee fightersComplete ass-whoopage (I hope
)
What really helps me out is my good geo pistols. I have a mind dot one that does 150/tick for over a minute (only 33% pot tho... but w/ fanshot... area mind poison anyone? ). That with a strong primary geo pistol (2.3/340 w/ pu) and I can work someone's (or a whole group's) mind down with random shots combined with them healing themselves to death and move in to finish off with nexu-grin. Or on the rare occasion I land a great dizzy/posture change, run back about 48m and last ditch the poo out of em.
With a little luck and alot of patience, you can beat about anyone if you keep your wits about you and pay attention to what your enemies are throwing at you. Keep some stun armor (helm, chest and pants) hotkeyed for those uber acklay fencers and annoying jawa-whores and don't underestimate a great suit of effect sliced armor
You can be a great addition to a group too. I love to have my fixer title up. Everyone rushes to you, thinking "hey, easy kill", all the while you're runnin and gunnin, dodgin, fan shot, etc while your group easily dispatches those attacking you because they're so caught up in trying to kill the unkillable. muahahaha
YOu guys got me seriously considering triple master! I've been wanting to do TKA forever and if Pistols gets the duel weilding I am SOLD!
...of course I need to get my second Holo done before pub 10-
Hey! When DOES the combat rebalance come down anyway?
sure, during the course of a raid usually i find myself hanging back out of turret range and allowing the riflemen to do the picking - but that really goes for any short distancer.
inevitably though, the forces do meet, and it's during this time that the Smuggler triple-threat has the capacity to really shine. one thing about it is, it's a very difficult build to take down, provided of course that you're prepared. between the heavy defence mods, high quality armour, buffs, food, spice and /equi (if you're a Zab), i'm often able to throw myself at groups of around 4 to 5, deal out a couple of TK knockdowns, switch to geo and put a couple out of commission before /bursting out and letting them chase me - right into the volleys of rifleman fire. meditate and allow yourself to heal, then rinse and repeat. it's usually possible to continue this for quite a long while. even after being incapped eventually, force of will, down a vercupti or two and get back to it. after that, and having played all the cards up the Smuggler sleave, time to switch to clothing and /feign, reporting your position to your teammates and becoming a convenient listening post until help arrives. the latter is one of my favourites; more than a handful of times i've done it and groups of the enemy have stood about wounding me, only to be dropped like flies by the second wave homing in on my position.
one of the best things about this template is the number of options and the flexibility, which more than make up for its lack of raw DPS. it's fiddly and requires a little of the 'ole smarts in order to become effective, but when you gradually get into your "zone", it's a blast.
so play around with it a little before resigning yourself to being a second class combatant.
Run at them with your pisto, out so you dodge their shots, then get your VK out when you're in range (heck, you might even get lowblow to KD them). That's the best tactic I can think of (disclaimer, I'm still drunk after a night out and ergo all that I can think of is somewhat dire), but come the combat balance you should find you're extremely useful, having two working elite combat professions mastered and some (eventually) nice Smuggler specials to give you that slight edge (disclaimer No. 2: assuming they get it right on both the CB and the S revamp.. I wait with bated breath [quite a feat given it's months away])
.. I should probably go to bed

I've really just started to pvp and just recently gotten back to triple master I've done the fd and fow before and it does work extremely well against all but riflemen with snipershot (I hate that blasted thing) anyway.
with pistols I've main been in the support role as you said using panic shots, fan shots, healthshots, and doing my best to pick off the weekest in the opposing faction. One huge draw back is as a support type of combatant the inability to heal is a bit of a problem.
I'll tell you though if i'm buffed , mind food, armored, with a psg and my geno blaster I can pretty much do ok. My shots aren't specific unless they are within melee range but I'm pretty hard to hit for major damage as well.
