ganked from stratics:

# Can I illegally modify my ship?
Yes! Just like sliced weapons, illegal modified ships are contraband. One can only assume the Empire will attack you if they discover the illegal modifications you've made.

mmmm ? looks promising at first glance.

I'm actually not getting too excited about slicing ships.

I want Smugger's to get away from the Slice & Spice stuff, and get to actuall Smuggling.

I'd only get excited if only Smugglers would slice their own ships so we'd have a greater advantage over other ships. But we all know slicing a ship will go for a cheap price and everyone will have it.

In fact Ive never been able to slice my own weapon higher than anyone else's, chances are Ill wind up helping someone else kick my butt for a lousy 1k creds. hehe No thanks

The amount of time Han & Chewie spent tinkering with the falcon, i think slicing ships was a natural addition.

Image from a BH who's at E3. There are several in the series.

Note the differnt componenets to the ship... anyone think maybe each of those could be slicable as a means of tricking-out differnt ships?

I notice going through the pics from that guy that there are A Wing and B Wing certifications. Once again continuity goes right out the window...

I'd take gameplay over continuity any day. Those ships are needed to keep the balance between (the number of)the Imperial and Rebel fighters.

Going to WoW.

This game blows.

Hopefully we are not restricted to one slice on a ship like we are for weapons and armor, and hopefully its not random. I would like to see smugglers be able to slice the engines (heh lets see who can do the Kessel run the fastest), storage (Han had extra hidden storage modules on the Falcon), and the weapon systems (cant think of an example from the movies ).

Well with that ship creation screen... I can only hope that smugglers are not going to be slicing components before creation of the ship.

Why?

Because I want the heavily modified ships to be the sole property of smugglers. None of this 'Will you slice my sub-light engine for me?' garbage.

I want a dynamic process where I can tinker with my existing ship, yelling at my friends to 'Shut it off! Shut it off!' while praying it works out.

I also agree with knowing what the heck it is I'm adjusting on my ship.

This just gave me what I think may be a great idea. I wonder if the devs could make it dynamic where the slice only lasts for a certain amount of time, kind of like a re-wiring buff for your ship. Once the buff is over there could be a downer period that hinders your ship for a short time. This downer time could be reduced or eliminated by another slice that undoes the previous slice and re-wires the ship back to its original configuration. This 'ship buff slice' could require the smuggler to get help from other people to make it go faster by needing to turn power off at one terminal then slice another terminal a short distance away. Instead of running back and forth the other person could man the switch and the smuggler could yell at him to 'Shut it off! Shut it off!'. Anyway this seems like it could be to complicated but would be awesome to have since it makes slicing dynamic and makes it so that a sliced ship is special for smugglers and not something that everyone has like it is with weapons and armor. You could still have permanent slices or people like the hidden storage spaces and maybe even keep the weapons the way they are but having this for the engines would be sweet.
