After much searching and reading of threads I have arrived ata conclusion.I have decided that yesthe combat redesign needs to happen before our revamp. It pains me to say this, butit doesn't mean I am not pissed that we have been neglected for 18months and nerfed to hell in the meantime. I just want to hear some ideas and feel out what you guys think. Personally Ibelieve that combat is so broken that if it doesn't get fixed this game will go the way of AC2. So I will throw my support behind the revamp hoping in the long run to enjoy a good and wellbalanced combat system.

Well,..from reading TH's posts I am hoping we get some love in the Combat Revamp, and a little love in the non-combat pass through. I guess we could end up getting a Smuggler Revamp inside of these two revamps. I don't know, prolly wishfull thinking on my part.

Since this game is fully based around combat (you craft weapons and armors, you hunt for chef or docs, docs heal your combat wounds and buff you for combat and so on... )

It's logical tehy revamp combat first. What puzzles me is how they couldn't have seen this before... it's been 16 months since release, and some 12 months since they are talking about combat balance/revamp/upgrade/thingy.

Doing this first would have saved much more cancelled accounts (that's the marketting point of view), would have left time for both JtL and professions revamps. What i feel on this particular issue is that we've been beta testing a few things for 16 months, will be testing some more on the 3/6 next months, and then maybe we will be able to see a releasable game some 2 years after initial relase. Not that the game is unplayable or not fun, it's just exactly the opposite of what it was supposed to be.

What is important now, is that we all push in the same direction, we all help out with the beta and make things happen the faster it's humanly (devly?) possible. This way our revamp will benefit from both the input we made on the combat, and teh experience the devs acquire in communicating with the players, i hear everywhere they did great on this aspect on JtL beta, it can only get better and better with time passing, and hopefully we will benefit from that in our revamp.

Well Looking at this Logically..

IF

the "Combat Upgrade" and the "Smugger Revamp"are both going to happen.

AND

that the CombatUpgrade will affect the combat skills in the Smuggler Profession (Dirty Fighting) and Possibly also changing the combat abilities granted by our Prereqs.

THEN

It could be argued that it is more eficient to Upgrade Combat first as opposed to revamping smuggler and then changing it again right afterward for the combat upgrade.

It is also a Question of Scope.

TheCU will affect Near everything: It will be ade-facto Armorsmith/Weaponsmith Revamp thanks to the new Equipment that will be released with it. It will change the way this game is played at every level, it will (hopefully) fix the major problems with combat in this game that has contributed to the stagnation of the GCW.

Many proffesions and aspects of the game other than ours will benefit greatly from our Revamp. Bounty Hunters will have more to hunt, We will have more services that we can provide to our customers, and (hopefully) anyone in the game will be able to enjoy a much more rich SW Roleplaying Experiance through the Legality and visibility system that would undoubtedly be a part of the revamp. In fact perhaps "CriminalJustice Systems Upgrade" would be more accurate to describe it than simply a "Smuggler Revamp". Despite all that, it still does not have as much wide ranging affect on the game as the CU Has.

Simply put. The Need for a Combat Upgrade > The Need for a CriminalJustice Systems Upgrade

*edit*

I know this seems like a kick in the teeth, but I'll try to look at the bright side... At least with the combat upgrade, the DF tree will already be done. Meaning that we will at least get a little love beforehand, and when it finallyIS our turn, they will be able to use whatever resources normally would have gone intoDF, and put more into the rest.

One of these days I need to take time to write a clever Sig...

I must agree completely as much as I don't like it it does make sense to do the CU before we see some love. I for one am signed up and ready to help out on the closed beta if I can get in. If not I will test it on the Test Center Server when the public beta opens. I just want to see what they are discussing for the upgrade. I am tired of all the secrecy, give us a chance to help now. I don't like the fact that 200 hand picked testers are going to set the tone for the entire ground game.
