Thread: Smugglers Alliance Need your help to defend slicing!

There is a bit of a debate on my server forum about slicing, and how quality of resources affects the outcome. There are even some of those ever so smart "I-used-to-be-a-smuggler"'s who are helping to perpetuate this claim. I've said my piece.
But I think it would be awesome if all of you would pop over there and say alittle piece to. We could call it our first cross server Smuggler Alliance. I know it is probably wasting your time and your finger typing effort ( cuz people are stubbor) but I would love to see everybody from these forums chime in and refute. Numbers equals the truth on the forums.

Excellent link.
Incidentally, theres a flame-war approaching on that Tempest thread. Think we proved our point, so lets burn rubber and leave them to kill themselves off.

You know what the "slicing tools quality" argument remind me of?
In DAoC, the whole bunch of superstitions that surrounded killing the dragon. Some dragon raid leaders had a VERY extensive list of "don't", about stuff that were supposed to make the dragon use his breath weapon more often. Don't use anything ranged, don't cast on him, don't buff, don't use weapons with procs, don't use pets, don't use paladins's chants, etc.
Then the players complaining saying that it take 100 players to kill him while the devs say 50 persons can do it (numbers might have changed, have not played in a while). No wonder, most classes are useless in dragon raids, with so many "don't". And then I asked the question one day for a Grab Bag and got an official answer: all thoses things do not make the dragon breath more often, it is RANDOM. And yet, most peoples still refused to believe it, leading raid with more and more restrictive rules, every mass killing creating more superstitions.
Some choosed to believe that we were being lied to or that the person who answered was not well informed. Their right, but personally, between believing an official answer and a superstition, I will believe the official answer until proof of the contrary.

Smugglers rule, the Dedskaley d00d wont accept any word, he claims all the devs and correspondants and CSRs dont know anything.
His daily conceited antics on the Tempest forums are quite amusing, his ego is so big he has to load it on a second computer .
Too funny ah well, let them keep wasting douse on their kits and clamps

True that the smuggler community seem a nice closeknit one. (still a fairly "young" smuggler so just starting to see that 
)
I wonder... if there aren't out there a few Master Smuggler who know very well quality do not matter but still claim that it does, paying more on tools but charging more too for slices as an "elite" master who "use only top quality tools". A marketing ploy to get some rich clients who will believe them and accept to pay 3x or 4x what another smuggler would charge.
That some Master Smugglers in the past did that really believing it WAS making a difference is one thing, I am talking about some doing it now as a deliberate tactic to seperate themselves from the rest of the smuggler crowd. If some are doing that, then I could see thoses persons refusing to admit quality make no difference.

I love the smuggler community. No really...I do. Thanks to everyone who posted!!! I agree I think the point was well made. I'm ducking out of that thread myself as the flamewarriors are riding out in force.
I don't know of any other profession that has the comraderie that smugglers have. I will never drop for this simple reason. I feel like I'm in some cool club...where no one but us thinks we're cool...but it doesn't matter cuz we think we're cool. heheheh
