Just ditched my long standing profs and want to take up another career. I'd like to do Smuggler and am looking for a good PvE template (I'm not interested in PvP)

I guess pistoleer is an obvious choice but am open to any suggestions (although not ranger/rifleman as I've been that for months!!!)

I LOVE my Master Smuggler/TKM/Scout 4040 It rocks the PvE world!!!!

And I make more money off my hunting then I do my smuggling - go figure

Edit: I also have Novice Entertainer and once box of music so I can heal my BF

Just looking through the various professions now... What about Smuggler/Commando? Ive never done either of those. Does this work as a template and is anyone using it?

well, lots of smuggler go with a triple masterate of master dmuggler, master pistoleer, and teras kasi master. i have had this template and it is great for PvE. however, just go with what u will have the most fun with

Im Smuggler/Commando. Its good for dmg dealing in PVE especially in a group but you might as well forget about PvP unless your really cunning with your Commando and Smuggler toys (bomb droids, stacking flame DOT's, 'nades, heavy weapon and assorted switching of dmg types etc). You can forget about soloing high end Hand to Hand mobs too. It can be done but its hard. On the plus side I did manage to solo a 130k Super Battle Droid in the corvette. I was fully buffed had my best togs on and was loaded up with more Heavies than you can name. It took me about 20 mins to kill it for 3k exp and no loot (allready knew this was just testing) and about a billion feign deaths. I have also solo'd Kimos using a similar tactic and find a lot of NPC mobs ('vette mobs, black suns etc) drop really fast to clever commando weapon use and feigning.

Bottom line there are more effective Smuggler templates but Smug/Com to me is a lot of fun in a combat system that essentially sucks. Then again I like pretty particle weapon effects...

Thanks for the info guys - my smuggling is coming along nicely and shoud master in about a week. Will make my decision on what to complement it with then.

As for any other template suggestions I'd love to hear them

I use Master Smuggler, Master Swordsman, TKA 1001, Medic 1100, combat prowess 0044, enhanced reflexes 4400. Once the revamp happens i might drop smuggler tho and get more combat,but its a decent PVE template as i can solo krayts,the geo cave....

Fencer: 4000

Still have 12 points or so to play with. Maybe spend them on FS skills. The obvious disadvantage is thatthere isno means of healing but I'm always buffed when doing pve so healing isn't much of an issue.
