I don't really know what to do past this one suggestion, but Smugglers should either A, be able to join BOTH factions, or B, not be able to join either. We should have the ability to be 'double agents' as it were, helping either or both sides as we pleased or as we were needed, without officially declaring a side. I hate how I'm currently with the Empire, but I can't 'sweet talk' my way up to even with the Rebels, which is what a smuggler ought to be able to do. I'm like -2XXX inRebel Faction.
To put this to use, the GCW would have toimplement some sort of Smuggler Missions (actual 'smuggling' or not)... But of course, Jedi, of whichless than a half-dozenat this point in time exist, are far more useful and plentiful than Smugglers, of which a mere several hundred-thousand probably exist. (sarcasm off... Oh WAIT, it was never on!)
At this point they seriously ought to nerf Smugglers down into JUST a title, cause that's all we get from it.

No, what we need is a third faction. A underworld sort of Hutt/Black Sun sort of thing.

ok.. this thread reminded me of something i saw in one of my old Star Wars Gamers(defunct?)
Magazines.. it's about 2 years old. Vol.1, Issue 8.
In the back. they have an article, about all the latest and greatest Star Wars Licence games that were being shown at E3 that year.. here are a few of the titles...
SW: Podracing Extreme, for ps2(did it come out? don't remember)
SW: Obi-Wan, for the Xbox
SW: Rogue Leader,RS2, for the Game Cube..
and Finaly...
Star Wars Galaxies!
i'm not going to post the whole article, but i will post the more interesting bits...
"The Game will be set in the Classic SW timeline(between ANH and TES),but the Developers will be using Eps 1 and 2 for inspiration" guess where the jedi are comeing from?
here's where it REALY Becomes Interesting...
"Players can become Rebels or Imperials, remain Neutral, or even join other factions, such as a 'criminal'(their quotes) group.
"criminal" Group eh? Surely that can't be talking about *gasp* Smugglers?!
the rest of the article goes on about all the T and L, the bump mapping, ect ad nausium.
after all that, it delves into what they called the "Space Expansion" AKA JTL. that bit continues with an interesting note...
" Players can use their starships to travel between planets, transport goods and other players and engage in space combat"
again... Smuggling? say it ain't so, Han, say it ain't so!
the end of the article goes on to pat itself on the back for garnering several E3 awards from game magazines..
now, opposite that article, was another, smaller one, giving an update on the PvP mechanics of the came, and how they were going to be implemented. near the end of that article, it again mentions the factions.
"The Initial Product will fully support both an Imperial and Rebel faction, and will probably include some sort of criminal faction as well
again it goes slightly into the faction perks.
now. here's the real kick to the twig-and-berries....
the first article, mentioning all the games at the lucas arts booth that year. was written by....
Haden Blackman
the man who said
" First I’d apologize that we were misleading at all, if that was the case, or if he was misled and had expectations for a Smuggler revamp."
i have two words for that....
SITH SPIT
Does he even remember the article? he might, but he might not admit to it...
if anyone wants to forward this on, please do...
i'm done...
