---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What is slicing?
A: Slicing is when a Smuggler makes illegal modifications to weapons or armor to increase their performance.
Q: What do you mean illegal?
A: Sliced modifications in Star Wars are forbidden by the Empire. If an NPC stops you for a contraband search you will be penalized if your sliced items are discovered. The penealty is currently not very severe.
Q: Will slicing hurt my item?
A: No, slicing can only improve the item.
Q: Can my item be un-sliced or sliced differently if I change my mind?
A: No. Slices cannot be undone, so be sure you know what you're doing!
Q: How much can my item be improved?
A: That depends on how the item is modified. Each item can have up to 100% customization and each modification made will have a customization cost associated with it. Only a Master Smuggler can slice an item up to 100% while lower level Smugglers will be limited to less.
Q: I have an item to be sliced, what else do I need?
A: Simple slices do not require anything extra while moderate slices require common loot drop items as components. The highest level slices require loot drops from difficult creatures such as Krayt Dragons. Your local Smuggler may or may not have the components needed, but you should ask first to find out for sure. If you really want a high level slice you might have to find the needed components yourself.
Q: My weapon is very powerful already. Can the speed or damage be increased past the maximum value of the weapon?
A: No. Every weapon has maximum values and these cannot be bypassed by slicing, though there is no penalty for trying. If you plan to obtain a rare component for your slice you might want to consult a knowledgable Weaponsmith first to see how close to the maximum your weapon is. It may turn out that you cannot get your slice even with a rare component.
