Thread: FanFest Update: Smugglers will smuggle after JtL

Not a smuggler myself, but I thought I'd pass this on. Smuggling on the ground was seen as "not very compelling" by the devs but that it will be added "shortly after" JtL launch.

Smuggling is smuggling, land or space.

They have yet to tell us why it is requiring space in order for us to do our profession definining skill.

Last I checked, I didn't see a notice saying 'Smugglers are FUBAR till the Space Expansion, if that is the profession you want to play, I suggest waiting till then.'

I appreciate the effort to update us on these things, but I'm not about to start feeling this is a turn-around point in how they treat our profession.

Yeah we've heard this...most recently from JustG's currently hidden SotG letter.

You're really telling us nothing new...and like Caylin said, they haven't offered up any explanation as to WHY it's going to take JtL to make this happen.

In short, we appreciate your attempt at keeping us up to speed, but we'd REALLY like to know HOW we're going to be smuggling in JtL. That's the important question. Because just giving us ships (which is my nightmare response) ISN'T going to give us smuggling.

But PLEASE keep up the updates, and thanks for thinking of us!

We do appreciate the news, but there is more at stake here than just smuggling now. It's how we've beentreated during the whole process. I think we're not taking any more. And besides, anything the people at fan fest say is geared towards getting applause. They certainly wouldn't say a class won't get something and bum people out. This is a "look what we're going to do!" fest; it's to appease the masses, nothing more. I don't believe that they know how to tell the truth at this point.

Thank you for keeping us in the loop - you've done more in 5 minutes that the developers have done in months.

If this is true all smugglers should get a FREE copy of JTL. No other profession requires the expansion.

Thanks for the heads-up I jsut wish the devs would explain how we smuggler...juts giving me a ship and having me modify it to go faster doesnt make me a smuggler. Keep the updates coming and please please talk to the devs for us...since most of us are leaving smuggler or the game... I fear anything they say such as JustG's little note is too little too late for many of us.

Caylin you are yet another great light in our community being extinguished by the devs... Just as Vader and the Emperor wiped out the Jedi...So too are the Devs wiping out the smuggler community.

I understand your frustration -however I should note that while the devs aren't saying things like "oh yeah, we're ignoring that profession" they did tell the player asking about rangers that there was a "balancing act for priorities" and a commando that there "wasn't much support" for commando fixes (he was talking about support in the attitude of the attendees, not among the devs). My interpretation of the comment (again a neutral non-ranger, non-commandoparty here) was that rangersand commandos are just going to have to wait, and that commando might not even be considered broken. On the other hand,my impression of the smuggler comments was generally positive. There was none of the vague "that's something we're looking at" or "we'd really like to see that" type comments. It felt very firm, like getting smuggling in is asignificant developer goal. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Well, thats something then. Its just tough to believe that they have any good will towards us when all we have gotten to this date is worse and not better. I just fail to see how the JTL expansion is going to help my ground game improve. Fact is, it won't. This is a profession that was released in the original game. It should stand on its own two feet - not need to be propped up from an expansion. If I would have known that I couldn't truly "play a smuggler like Han Solo" I may have waited until I could to get into the game. I feel lied to and ripped off, and so does a lot of the community now. The (non) brains at SOE have their hands fullwith this one, as I think they will get no further cooperation from us.

But by all means, keep the info flowing - at least SOMEONE out there is talking to us about our professions future.

To echo what others have said: if smuggling requires the space expansion..... then we should all get free copies of it. Any other current professions require the expansion to actually play the content of their profession? "not very compelling" is just a terribly poor excuse - they are trying to justify their complete failure to make smugglers smuggle. Our profession name should be changed to "Slicer" so they can add the real "Smuggler" profession to the space expansion.

That's apparently the intent of JustG's posting...

Then he:

A) should have said that long ago instead of stringing us along.

B) should outright say it now

C) Shouldn't have included this half-assed profession that, unlike all the other professions, REQUIRES the expansion to be bought to actually play.

It's the misinformation and lack of real communication, and the broken promises of MEANINGFUL communication that are the real crimes here. Instead of discussion the ONLY feedback we get on our proposals is...

"Make it shorter."

What? Can't they read? Do they not honestly have ten minutes to read the 100 page proposal. It really is a quick read. Bulletpointed and everything. Sheesh.
