Ok, I have been playing for a long time, but hanve never tried smuggler. I now have a novice smuggler, but the certification say I can only slice containers. My question is where do I find enough containers, or can I slice other things for the xp? From experience I have never recieved many container drops, thus the question.

If there is a previous posting, just point me there and ingore my stupidity.

Thanx

A lot of loot shops sell containers for 3-6k each. Most containers drop from all levels on NPCs. They are a random drop and usually have CDEFs and such in them, sometimes you get lucky with a crystal or AA. Your best bet is to buy the containers if you have the money from loot merchants, or to stand in Starports spamming offers to slice them for free. Either those waysor go kill every NPC you can find and hope for enough.

At Novice Smuggler you can only slice containers, it may be worth looking on the bazaar for containers people often put them on for 6k alternatively ask your guild (if you are guilded) to give you a hand, although loot drops seem to of gone up if you kill npcs they seem to be dropping loot quite nicely atm I got 6 or 7 in an hour today hope this helps

With JTL, I don't have to pay for travel anymore, so I would scour the whole galaxy on the bazaar and look for the cheapest LC that I could find. I once found about 10 LC that one person put up for 750 a piece so I bought all 10 and travelled to Dant to retrieve them. I also use the spamming method when I get really desperate.

I just started some vendors on Starsider...and any LCs that I loot will be placed on the vendor for the astronomical price of 1 credit!

I just can't bring myself to charging 5k-6k for a piece of junk that's absolutely NECESSARY for a Novice to level. I think that's equivalent to extortion...

If you have any sort of combat skills, head to Tyrenna, source out a mob near the space port (usually a few Ragtag kooks) they're relatively easy to kill, they respawn pretty quick.

I was killing time killing kooks and ended up with 7 containers in around 15ish minutes. Probably an exception to the rule, but I usually end up with a few.

Good Luck.

Thugbashing worled for me. I looted over 80 containers for a friend of minestanding in a meatlump or ragtag spawn. The mobs usually spawn as soon as you loot the bodies. Now that all bodies carry loot (at least 1 credit), you can go through hundreds of meatlumps per hour. Depending on your combat level, you should be able to kill them in one or two hits. I saved on clicking time by running a loot macro:

LootLoop

/loot;

/pause 1;

/m lootloop

This causes system message spam when you try to loot mobs that aren't corpses yet. You'll also be making easy credits and you have a chance of looting loot kit parts (usually numbered sections). When you inventory gets full, you delete the junk. Keep the weapons for slicing later, however.

Just don't get buffs and armor for this kind of thing. That would just be embarassing.

1) Hit up your guild mates. Some of them must have some stored up. You are part of a pretty big guild.

2) Spam in Coronet. I hate spam as much as the next guy but I got about half my xp doing this. (Oh and you better get some clamps so that you don't end up breaking containers that you are slicing for other people.)

First time I tried Smuggler I spent a butt load of money on enough containers for slicing 2, then bought a butt load of knives and auks to get to 4........I never mastered it that time and will master it after I get Master Privateer

Dont know if you know this, but spoke with a novice the other night and they didnt. You can use clamps at novice just can not make them. Just wanted to remind people.

As far as containers go, I never bought them. Always ran into people who had 20-30 of them saved up. Still meet those people to this day even though I dont need the xp, but I do it because they are friends.

All my smuggler freinds are Masters, so they dont need it either.

Novice smugglers dont search for me for my keen knowledge in the trade, dunno why?? Otherwise Id be happy to hook them up. Oh well.

I had been playing for a while before I decided to go smuggler, so I had about 60 containers saved up. Then, Itold my guild mates that I would slice their containers for free, and they came out of the woodwork. I blew through slicing Ipretty quick. Once I hit Slicing II, I went to our exchange house, and sliced all the weapons we had. I also rooted through my extensive personal inventory and found ALL the weapons I had kept, and made sure they were sliced (nouber stuff). I had also been asking my guild mates to keep anyjunk weapons the found in their sliced containers (CDEF weapons, staffs, D18's, knives, etc). They gladly gave these to me, and I used them for weapons slicing XP. Between this, and a small amount of spamming, I got through slicing 3 pretty quick. Then, while I was working on slicing 4, things started to dry up. I asked one of my guild mates to manufacture enough cases of survival knives for me to finish slicing 4. She got the metal from our exchange house, so the cost to her was almost nothing. I think it took me about 3 or 4 days total to reach slicing 4. The only real cost to me was clamps, precision knives, and WUK's/AUK's.

I totally agree with you Dreven. I just give them away if I see an new smuggler begging for containers. I remember grinding missions and spending all my money buying them off the bazaar...I hated doin that, but I hated spamming even more.
