You have slicing II and you are running out of money...

If you don't have it already, get novice artisan so you can survey. Survey for some copper so you can make your own precision laser knives. Run missions to kill NPCs so you can loot containers and weapons. Get a crate or two of WUKs. Slice strictly by guessing.

You can also just make the knives and slice terminals by guessing. This method is rather slow but the most cost effective. You can also take the occasional sliced mission to help build up the funds.

You can also continue to spam you are slicing containers for free but make sure you tell your customers you are not using clamps.

If you can get 2250 copper, try to talk another smuggler into trading the copper for a crate of clamps.

I've just finished my slicing branch and I have to say, it wasn't easy.

I would suggest offering to slice containers for a few hundred credits (any more and people won't be interested) and weapon slices for 25 - 50 credits per %. This should just about cover your costs.

If you find yourself short of cash, take some destroy missions. It will help with the tons of pistol xp you need for master.

Also I would suggest using clamps as people won't be happy if you mess up a slice. Check around for the cheapest vendor. When I first started I found them in crates of 25 for 8K, then after I had checked around, I found them in crates of 25 for 6K.

Stand around asking for containers. If you're in a group, announce that you are a novice looking for xp. Keep your novice tag up; sometimes random people will spontaneously trade with you.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've been announcing free container slices with FANs. I have a lot of copper and iron, so i can actually make those. I've been paying people 500 credits if i fail to slice the container. Also with the free container slicing, where's the best place to do it? I've been doing it on Dant. but I'm not sure if thats the best place. Should I go to Coro or Theed? Thanks again for the advice.

I did my advertising in Eisley as the lag wasn't as bad and the people there are usually newer players who won't just be looking for a master to slice for them.

Alternatively, the thing that I found that helped me the most was my guild mates. They passed me all containers which I sliced and they got all the stuff (not that I've ever seen anything good in one).

Guilds are generally a good idea for most things to help you get xp, so it might be worth trying to hook up with one.

When I was working on slicing this is what I did. I would do one wholegame session (2-3 hours) running missions (this served a dual purpose as you I was also getting much needed pistol xp). This would net me between 30-40k. I would then buy a 2-3 crates of clamps for about 18-20k total. I would then buy some cheap metal (usually a lot of 2k would last me through most of my slicing) for making laser knives. The total for all this would'nt be more than 25k still leaving me with a cash surplus. I would then spend a whole game session advertising and slicing containers for free (if you use clamps make sure you advertise it's guaranteed). Depending on what you want to build up faster (pistol or slicing) you can chane it around, I actually worked on pistol more so I could go pistoleer and would do 2 game sessions running missions to every 1 game session doing only slicing.

I once got a guy who had a whole bank full of containers (i think it was about 2 dozen) that half also had containers inside the containers. Just keep in mind to try and combine things so you are not duplicating your efforts.

Just so you know the amount of slicing needed to finish that branch out, here's the breakdown.

Novice Smuggler to Slicing 1: 5000 experience needed, 20 containers total. -Done-
Slicing 1 to Slicing 2: 10 000 experience needed, 40 containers or 100 terminal slices. -Done-
Slicing 2 to Slicing 3: 25 000 experience needed, 100 weapons and/or containers, or 250 terminal slices.
Slicing 3 to Slicing 4: 50 000 experience needed, 200 weapons, armor pieces, and/or containers, or 500 terminal slices.

I'd suggest, if you can spare the skill points for Novice Artisan, to get it, and make a run of Survival Knives, that's the cheapest weapon to make, it takes a little metal, and a little polymer. A good number to make would be 325, if you don't have access to any molecular clamps, that is. That will give you enough knives to get straight through Slicing 2 to 3, and 3 to 4, with a 25 knife buffer for failed slices. I take it by what you've said that you've already gotten some slicing done, so that'll make more of a buffer zone for you.

Plus, you can keep these knives in crates, and practice slicing in a city while asking containers. Even better, you can sit a mission terminal and do this, slice the terminal, then slice knives, once the two minute timer is up, slice the terminal again, then go back to knives. All the while, asking for containers. Hope that helps.

At slicing 2 I did alot of squill missions. Had a AS friend hook me up with copper and a factory and used it all for precision knives. He also made 12 crates of survival knives at no charge. Then I just had to use the hunt money on clamps and WUKs. Occasionally cam across containers while out and about the next few weeks. Had one customer, offered cheap since I was not highly skilled. Cheap gun, cheap slice etc. And grinded my way to 4. Still had two crates of surv knives left over.

I made all my own PLK's and FANs, and survival knives and sliced'em. Got through Business 4 that way too.
