I've only been a smuggler for a few days, but I've had lots of people asking me to slice something that has already been sliced.
Why is it hard for them to understand that it can't be done again?
It's even worst when they say ' Oh, I didn't know it had been done already'. It says it on the examine screen. How can they not see that?
Am I the only person in the entire game that actually knows what equipment I have in my inventory?
Sorry for the rant, it's just that I shuttled across an entire planet to slice a set of armour, only to find that over half of it had already been done
Although I am happy that tomorrow I will be able to get master smuggler

Back in the days whem you had no indication on the weapon "examine" window that the weapon have been sliced, it was excusable. But now??? "shake head" Weird.
Speaking of the examine window, it would be VERY nice to see on it too the slice stats, like "27% damage".

Simple fix. You charge them $xxx. They hand you the item along with the $xxx. You go to work. If you slice it or not, you return them a sliced item. Job done!! I slice everything for FREE, but it costs 10k per item to take up my time.

Cant say that I have this problem. Sure its happened a couple times, mostly from noobs, in that case I hand it back. If I examine someone and see at least one mastered profession I'll go ahead and charge them.
Like I said though its a very rare occurance. Might have to do with my method though. I dont advertise, I dont make house calls, in short if someone wants a slice they come to me. I RP the exchange and job, never give numerical results of the slice, and almost always say ..."Now dont go tellin the Emporer who did this for ya" /thumbup . My slice fee is pretty middlin IMO ...5k usually.
What it does in effect is makes the person consider a little deeper the transaction, meaning that I mostly get folks that are specifically looking for a slice. Dunno if it makes a difference or not, like I said its nothing I consider a problem as it happens so rarely.

well, you know, the mention about the item being already sliced is at the bottom of the exeamine window, and people always look at the main stats.
Look at it this way : when was the last time you checked the HAM costs of a weapon? when was the last time you checked the encumbrance of a piece of armor?
And you are smugglers, so imagine those who aren't, they just think it this way "it's brand new, i have to get it sliced", and then they are surprised if you tell them it's already sliced.
Depending on my current mood, and the customer's one, i check it right in the trade window and then i can eventually teach them how to rtecognize sliced items. It's very impressive how very experienced players never noticed that the mention meant it was sliced (add this to the fact that not everybody understands english).
However if they look stubborn, i charge 10k per item, 5 for the check, 5 for the slice.

Because they're stupid?
Don't know about you but I check every stat on any item I am going to buy before I buy it.
How many items have you seen on that have 0/xxx condition for sale. I've seen a bunch. didn;t buy /em

Two reasons...
One: they either don't know or don't think to look and see if it HAS been sliced.
Two: they're morons.
It's usually both.

Lookout everyone, but this Bothan Smuggler just heard the most amazing bit of information.
Oh, and get your salt-shaker ready, because this one might not taste so good.
Someone asked me straight up if I could slice something twice, I told them the same thing the system tells you when you try- can't slice an already sliced item.
Then they come back and say that there is some bug which allows things to be sliced a second time.
I told him that even if it were currently so, I would have no part of it, as the action and owning the item afterwards would probably be grounds for account termination. Or at least to have naughty things done to you by Sony's blue glowies. ^_~
