With the addition of JtL player city starport access or at least space terminal access seems to be a universal wish.

For a very long time, I have been thinking about how tofix this, and I have never readany proposal to add thisin by any profession, but I think that it should be/could be a worth while addition tothe smuggler profession. They are called Smuggler's Beacon or Smuggler's Pit, theya building constructed by an architect, placed by a master smuggler, that would eather function as a full starport or a just the space terminal (allowing launching and landing outside the normal starport).

Feel free to flame, add to or ingore.

Not a shabby idea, but once it is placed, there will be little need for a smuggler afterwards. I like the idea of putting harsh regulations on what can go through starports and have people pay smugglers to transport it to wherever.

But on the other hand, they can't tweak the game so everyone wearing any sliced weapon or armor need a smuggler to travel. It do sound good in theory, but almost everyone have sliced armor and weapons! Having to wait for a very long time until they find an available smuggler to move would only anger the peoples into dropping sliced stuff.

But maybe... what if we were able to craft a new highly powerful but highly illegal spice, and that spice would be illegal enough that the public shuttle refuse you access if you carry it, unless you are a smuggler or with a smuggler. Basically what you suggested, but about some specific things. Powerful enough that some peoples will be willing to deal with the disadvantage of needing a smuggler to travel.

But I am sure some would bitterly complain that we are both making the cash from selling that spice then making more cash because the system hold them hostages to us by forcing them to use a smuggler to travel.

We need to be able to smuggle, but how is not obvious. lol

As for the Smuggler Beacon, well it kinda make sence. Like you need to be a master Doc to install an hospital or a Master Chef to install a cantina. I would see it either that way, or having a Master Shipwright install starport or starship terminal.

I know the arguments against tho: the fear that the NPC cities will end up empty. Presently the starports are a big meeting place after all.

Well, I'd like it if a Master Smuggler was required to be present when someone need to travel, like, a master smug could be hanging out in his favorite player city cantina, someone runs in, and desperately needs to get somewhere without any imperial entanglement.

Problem 1. The cost a smuggler would charge to use the terminal would have to be less than the punishment for being caught with illicit goods. as the current cost is only like 400 creds, well I doubt the smuggler is going to get away with it.

Problem 2. It would involve giving something good to Smugglers; as the current concensus seems to be that they're trying to eliminate the smuggler profession without anyone noticing, I doubt they would do something like this.

Problem 3. It would involve giving something good to roleplayers. As everyone knows, people who stand in front of Starports in npc cities, with their armies of jedi, and 999 strength mind fire stone knives, killing people out of sheer boredom, then going and running Janta missions for 3.5 hours at a time, getting rebuffed, and doing it again. If it doesn't somehow involve grinding, its not an official part of the game. It's "player-created" content.
